Today we’d like to introduce you to Kween Pickle.
Hi Kween, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Even as a child, I’ve always been a creative; from writing suspenseful sagas to making random short films/ vlogs with cousins and friends. I discovered that capturing moments and creating worlds have always been an outlet for me. As I get older and look back at my artistic career from dancing backup for local artist, studying film and tv production, experimenting with radio/ public broadcasting, honing my acting abilities through theatre and film. I come to the realization, that nothing has changed. I continue to grown and discover myself through the Arts.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nothing worth fighting for is a smooth or easy road. If anything, “dreams’ can also be “nightmares”. The best advice that my mother gave me was that life is always going to have it rough times . The question is, what are you willing to fight for? Personally, me being an artist, whether that be a director, photographer, writer, dancer, mix media artist; these are all facets of me. In short, my dreams aren’t optional but my reality.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am Kween Pickle.
Kween Pickle is a multifaceted black woman who grew up in a home that supported a “jack of all trades”.
I specialize in Film and Photography. I am a writer; whether this range from poetry, erotica, to comedy. I create immersive worlds.
I studied dance for 7 + years and theatre for 10+ years. I am an creative.
My proudest moments were living in Europe for 4+ years met so amazing artist ranging from Dj’s to Directors.
My favorite projects were guerrilla political social installations in the cities of Germany and France.
What sets me apart from the other? I welcome change. I don’t allow my past to dictate my future. I love being in rooms where people are better than me and most importantly, I uplift and support the communities I am in.
In short, Im not worried about the “others”.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Art. No. matter how tough life has became through my adolescence to becoming the woman I am today, Art has always been my first and inseparable love.
She grounds me, educates me about the world, pain, love, political and social injustice, and human nature.
Art will always be a cause that I HAVE to support.
For instance, films… I cant even count on my fingers how many life lessons I have safely learned in the comforts of my home or a theater through films.
