Today we’d like to introduce you to Latania Morris-Rossell.

Latania, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I entered the insurance industry over 20 years. I was 21 and looking for any job. I applied to Geico Insurance for a customer service position and tested so high on the sales test that I was hired a sales position instead. After working in the insurance industry for about 9 years, I decided to open my own insurance agency. In 2010 I started Stonewall Insurance Agency, a full-service independent insurance agency specializing in Auto, Home, Life and Business Insurance.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Opening a business is one of the most challenging things one can attempt to do, especially for minority business owners. When I started my business, I count not get any loans or funding. I started it from scratch without and money or clients. Funding was a huge issue, along with staffing and managing employees. The hardest part of creating a business is creating systems and making the business scalable. I started my business with $1000 to my name and built it into an agency with more than five million in annual premium.

My definition of success is having the power to create your own reality.
