Meet Lauren Slimming

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Slimming.

Lauren Slimming

Hi Lauren, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us. To start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I have been a teacher for nearly a decade. When I got pregnant in 2022, I knew I wanted to change my Instagram and blog from a travel focus to a focus on motherhood and family travel. I also wanted to incorporate my unique position as a teacher and how it relates to my motherhood journey.

I hoped that by creating an online community of young mothers, I would find support from others and offer support to others. Travel is important to my family and I. Showing the world how you can travel, work a traditional 9-5 (or 7-3 in my case), and bring your kids along is important to me.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The blog has been very exciting and fun! Adding the lens of motherhood to it has allowed me to open myself up to criticism at times; however, most people in the Traveling Teacher Mama community are supportive, cheerful, and helpful.

The biggest ongoing struggle is deciding how much of my daughter I want to share online. I do not share her name due to privacy concerns, but I sometimes question if I should share her milestones with the world. I often wonder how much she would want to be featured on the account when she is older. It is a balancing act I navigate as I grow as a mother.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Traveling Teacher Mama is my side hustle blog/Instagram account. I encourage a community of young mothers to band together and provide support, insight, and experiences to one another. Motherhood can be isolating, but having an online community has proven to provide a helpful connection.

I strive to show moms how they can be the moms they want to be and the women they want to be. I do this by showcasing cute, functional outfits, sharing mom stories, and providing travel tips and tricks for families. More than anything, I just want women to feel connected and confident in their new lives as moms.

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I think it would surprise people to know that I grew up in a small town, and although I have lived in the city for many years and have traveled

The city for many years and have traveled worldwide, I sometimes find Atlanta overwhelming.
