Meet Lysandra Joy Leary of House of Vine in West Midtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lysandra Joy Leary.

Lysandra Joy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m a California girl and Navy Veteran. I’m a California and Georgia state Licensed Esthetician and Makeup Artist, guiding boss women of color living full lives to continue living their best life on purpose by presenting their best face forward with consistent skincare and beauty services that turn their confidence into magic.

Originally born in Palm Springs, California, I currently reside in Atlanta, Georgia after a recent move from San Diego, California, my home of twenty years as of June 2019. It all began five years ago when I left a high-level administrative management position with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs to follow my bliss and express my vision of the world as an Esthetician/Makeup Artist, Beauty Expert, Blogger and Content Creator.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has NOT been a smooth road but it has not been extremely bad either. I must say I am blessed. It’s been a learning and growth experience in every way. Everything I do leads to something. Money is always an issue. Lol. However, I always find a way, it shows up and supports me, there is always enough when you want your vision bad enough to manifest itself. I guess you could say I definitely follow my heart but let my head steer the logistical aspects. Despite the obstacles, I am blessed to be able to fulfill my heart’s desire, keep faith, be real and hopefully provide the utmost value while also inspiring and serving women that want and need my services. I want an extraordinary life and sometimes that means enduring extraordinary circumstances and/or sacrifice to get there. You do crazy things that not everyone would do as a means to getting where you truly want to go when you feel you don’t want to do anything else. It is a mind game and lately, I am really in-tune with envisioning my highest future self and her aspirations. So I do the work she would do to become who she is.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the House of Vine story. Tell us more about the business.
My business, House of Vine, opening in late July 2020, is named in memory of my grandmother Elvina (Vine) Joubert, a black woman who raised five kids in the 1970s, worked for Frank Sinatra for about 30 years until his death in 1998, owned homes and helped raise her 9+ grandkids all single-handedly. She instilled in me a love of beautiful things and a work ethic that demands results to guarantee a better way of living.

In the business of beauty. Guiding entrepreneurial and creative professional women of color in skin + beauty rituals that foster an unwavering confidence that drives them to do the extraordinary things in life!

I’m guiding boss women who work hard and play harder. You are in the public eye and must present yourself as a positive, admirable image whether you are a CEO, business owner, celebrity or influencer, you are the example of perfection whether it be perceived or otherwise. So, I’m here to help you level up your beauty regimen because beauty is boss. When you look good, you feel good and when you feel good, you do the extraordinary things in life.

Providing professional makeup for events, weddings, etc. • facials specializing in oily/blemished/hyperpigmented and age prevention • classic lash extensions • lash lifts • lash & brow tinting • brow shaping/threading • facial waxing/threading • Brazilian waxing with or without vagacials • virtual skincare consults/facials for tips, tricks and guidance in better skin for my brown and black women.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In addition to running House of Vine once it opens in late July 2020 and growing my clientele of glowgetters, I envision myself going into more of an influencer role, writer and expert trainer within intermingled phases over the next 2-3 years. I plan to write an Ebook before the end of 2020 regarding effortless beauty and style for black women. In 2021-2022 if not sooner I dream of working for Tyler Perry Studious as an in-house Makeup Artist and taking on more celebrity clients to upkeep their beauty routines in their personal daily lives as well as creating the opportunity to attend conferences and retreats as an expert panel contributor, speaker and/or moderator. In the next couple of years, I plan on writing more skincare and beauty related articles for magazines and online publications. I dream to continue to foster relationships to build my business into a bigger day spa in a bigger location with a staff of employees in a couple of locations.
