Meet Marci Millsap of Slumber With Queens Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marci Millsap.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Marci. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m an Active Duty Soldier, Wife, and Mom. My passion to help other women began when I started to sell hair after being stationed in Atlanta. not many women wanted to help me, and most of my then friends even laughed at me. After taking off in the hair industry, I opened a Salon in my home town of Kansas City and began to service many college, so I came off with the name The Queens University. I later created the Smartbossworkshop which is an interactive web course that teaches other women how to start a business.

In 2018, I was given the vision to host a Slumber Party but that where women could learn. We received great reviews so this year we are back and bigger than ever. The women not only come and learn they are also pampered and catered too. There are several areas that focused on such is Career Building, Investing and Trading, Credit, Managing Finances and Vision BoArds, just to name a few.

Has it been a smooth road?
Being in the Army is a challenge itself so the road has not always been easy. I lost my sister to cancer in 2008 and my nephew In 2012. Both were life-changing events. I began to realize how short life is. Balance is the most important thing as well as time management. With social media, the pressure is always on, I’ve made a few impulse decisions that cost me a lot. Not because I wasn’t willing to learn but I felt like I didn’t know where to begin. So, instead of complaining, I became who I needed.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My Hair company, Crowned Queen Hair stood out because we offered a money-back guarantee on Virgin Hair. In 2012, that was unheard of. It was important for me to ensure customers that they were receiving great quality. We are still in business making it happen.

The Queens University is a diverse organization that collaborated with many other women such as 2020 Girls and a United Kweendom.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I’m originally from Wyandotte County in Kansas City, Love my City! Having lived in Ga in since 2003. I’m a peach baby ! Atlanta is one of the most supportive cities I know. No matter who is who, people genuinely support and that is was I will forever love Atlanta. The best part about this event is that I’m able to collaborate with other women in business that help not just my platform but theirs as well. We plan to begin touring to other cities 2020!
