Meet Marquita Washington of Kioccasions in South Fulton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marquita Washington.

Marquita, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always loved doing arts and crafts! I started doing small things at my children’s elementary school, at the father daughter dance and the mother son dance where I was a volunteer for decorating. Also, my sister friend (a friend who is a sister to me) started asking me hey Kita, so I have this idea of a boom box can you make it for me? I would reply I don’t know, I never made anything like that before. Her response would be “yes you can” and I did, I made the boom boxes! I love that I have people who encourage me. Today my business have definitely grown, my family believes in me and supports me. Also, Kioccasions have grown because of advertising and promoting.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My road has been quite smooth. Now it has had some slowdowns and I had to tell myself Kita don’t rush or compare in due time it will come.

Please tell us about Kioccasions.
Kioccasions is a home and party decor company. I make door wreaths, floral centerpieces, money cakes, card boxes, money boxes, boom boxes and rubrics cubes. I am mostly known for my money cakes and door wreaths. I am most proud that all my customers are very satisfied when they receive their items! What sets Kioccasions apart from others my product quality, turn around time, my neatness and I incorporate details.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I remember when my dad and I drove to Canada. We went to Marineland we had so much fun that day. Watching the dolphin show, riding the rides and eating funnel cakes.
