Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Mitchell.
Matt, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
While Mitchell Event Planning is new to the Atlanta Wedding Industry, I, as a planner, have several years of planning and event management experience. I am a native Alabamian and graduate of The University of Alabama, where I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Commerce and Business Administration. I am a Certified Wedding Planner (TM), and a proud member of the largest group of wedding professionals, The Association of Bridal Consultants.
My start in the wedding industry actually began as a wedding singer. It was there that I discovered my passion for weddings. When you work with couples – you get to know them on a deeper level. You gain insight into their unique characteristics and see first-hand the love that they have for one another. They invite you to one of their most important and meaningful days, and you get to experience their fairytale unfold right before your eyes.
It was this passion and my drive to provide a fully inclusive wedding planning experience with unparalleled customer service, that Mitchell Event Planning was born.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Well, they say “anything worth having is worth working for,” right? That is definitely the case with starting a new business – it takes a lot of drive, passion, and courage to make the leap of faith and put your time and money into something with no guarantees. With any new venture there are many hurdles to overcome before you can say the road is smooth ahead.
I have only been an Atlanta resident for 3 years, so networking and getting my name out there has been a top focus of mine. There are many talented planners in Atlanta, so I continually seek out additional information, training, education, partnerships, etc. to stay inspired and to be able to provide my clients with an extraordinary service and experience.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Mitchell Event Planning – what should we know?
Mitchell Event Planning was created to assist clients with their wedding and event planning needs. While we have experience in other event types, we specialize in wedding planning and coordination.
Our mission is to partner with our couples to fully realize their dream wedding while capturing their unique characteristics, and tailoring a wedding that is completely them. Our motto is, “Creating Unforgettable Memories.”
As mentioned, we consider our job a partnership – not a dictatorship. We want to create our client’s dream wedding, not ours. We enjoy taking the time to get to know our couples and discovering their interests and tastes while building that into the wedding planning process.
We also believe that love is love and envision a world that is all inclusive. We want to be a leader in the Atlanta Wedding Industry, and provide services for all clients – regardless of sexual orientation, race, religion, etc.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
While I have been the sole founding member and lead planner for Mitchell Event Planning – that doesn’t mean that I haven’t had some help along the way. Help comes in all shapes and sizes, but for me the support of my family, friends, and past clients has truly meant the difference. When building something from the ground up – you encounter obstacles and even question yourself – those gentle nudges and words of encouragement are just enough to keep you going.
Booker T. Washington once said, “Success is to be measured not so much by the position one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed.”
It is with these words and with my supporters that I have forged ahead to create this company that I cherish and look forward to building even more each day.
