Meet Metowi Willingham of Bleu Topaz Hair Boutique in West Midtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Metowi Willingham.

Metowi, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I got started with hair extensions, Detroit 1996, still in middle school I started a craft that unbeknownst to me at the time would become a passion and livelihood. Never losing interest in what was once a hobby, I always did hair for supplemental income until 2005 when I decided to go to school for cosmetology. As an assistant in school I started at an Aveda concept salon in the Virginia Highlands and worked at several other salons in Atlanta until I created Bleu Topaz to be an intimate full service beauty experience for women who love a salon finish but wasn’t into the large hair salon experience. Four years later Bleu topaz offers hair, nails, mink lashes, blowouts and hair extensions.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t been smooth all the time. The first couple years I struggled to find a cohesive group of hair stylists that had the same goals artistically and professionally. I never compromised my standard to keep chairs full and eventually that thinking rewarded me with the team that is currently working at Bleu Topaz.

Bleu Topaz Hair Boutique – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Bleu topaz is known for being a full service beauty salon that specializes in micro link extensions, custom wig Construction, healthy hair and nails. I’m proud to have awesome coworkers who are celebrity stylists, makeup artist and nail techs who are the master at their craft. As a company we are proud to be offering services that are ahead of the beauty curve.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career this far has been teaching workshops for micro links to other stylist across the country.
