Today we’d like to introduce you to Millennium Taylor.
So, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As a kid, I was always heavy into music. I loved the cheetah girls and was introduced to hip hop at the tinder age of 4 or 5. My earliest memory of rap was Kanye west graduation album I was probably in kindergarten and to this day, he is my biggest inspiration. I would participate in every talent show and make my own songs and choreography, I even won two trophies in one talent show. I feel like I always had a calling to be involved in music but I didn’t always think it was possible until my senior year of high school when I decided not to go to college and focus on my dreams. Me and my friends would skip class to go smoke weed and freestyle in the car and everybody always said: “Mimi you need to make this a song fr, you need to rap fr.” in May of 2017 I got the opportunity to jump in the booth make my first real song titled “Y” which is still up on my SoundCloud, I want people to be able to hear where I came from and where I am now. Sometimes I do have an issue with my creativity and I get down, but who doesn’t. It’s like chasing a dream is the hardest shit I’ve ever done, especially because nobody believes in you until you already made it, but now I have my son Lennox and he’s all the motivation I need these days to get it done. I’m not just working for myself anymore I’m working for my legacy.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Lol, what is a “smooth road”? Sometimes I feel like I’ve had nothing BUT obstacles, but that’s just part of the game if you ask me. I mean, I’ve struggled with believing in myself, depression, anxiety, my older sister’s death (RIP 1328 4life) and then I got pregnant at 19, which was just unbelievable. I mean I was the last person anybody would think to have a baby but it’s life and I’m better now and I’m actually way happier than I’ve ever been.
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
Well, I’m a music artist, I “rap.” I would say I’m known for being melodic asf in my music and being original, not trying to follow the wave and just be myself. Especially the people who’ve known me a while would tell you that this is who I am and who I’m supposed to be. I’ve always been the “cool girl,” and I think it shows in my music. I just like to vibe out and have fun. And that’s what I like to push in my music.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Honestly, this is my proudest moment so far, my first interview and that’s fye asf!
