Today we’d like to introduce you to Molly Davidson.
Hi Molly, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
A couple of years ago, I lived in South Korea with my husband. Before moving there, I spent a lot of time searching TikTok and YouTube for other Americans sharing what life was like there. I couldn’t find much from people living in the same area as us, so I decided to start sharing my own experience as an American military wife living in Korea. I wanted to help other families making the same move feel a little less alone and give them an idea of what to expect. I also thought it was just an interesting perspective that people would enjoy watching, even if they weren’t military or planning to move to Korea.
When my husband and I moved to Augusta, GA, I continued creating content. Since I was new to the area and didn’t know many people yet, I spent a lot of time exploring, finding new places to eat, things to do, and local spots I thought were worth sharing. I started posting those experiences on TikTok, and my content really began to take off! (Life of Molly | Augusta GA)
I’ve loved hearing from people who have discovered new places because of my videos, or from small business owners who have told me how my content has helped bring people through their doors. It’s been really motivating to see the impact social media can have and it makes me excited to keep exploring and sharing my experiences wherever life takes us!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, one of my biggest fears when I started posting so much on social media was dealing with mean or hateful comments. Thankfully, people have been so kind and supportive, and I’m really grateful for that. I hope it continues!
One of the biggest struggles has been the algorithm. It can be frustrating to put a lot of time and effort into a video that you’re really proud of, only for it to flop. There’s also times when I feel like my momentum has slowed down. But, I just focused on staying consistent and continuing to put out the best content I can, regardless of how many views a video gets.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I grew up wanting to be a teacher, and it was always my dream. I earned my Master in Teaching degree and spent six years teaching in the classroom. While I loved so many parts of teaching, it was also overwhelming, and I knew I needed to do something new. Around that same time, my husband and I moved to South Korea, which is when I started creating content and private tutoring.
Now, I spend about half my time creating content and the other half running my own private tutoring business. I honestly love both so much! I get to spend part of my time doing something I’ve always been passionate about, educating kids, and the other part being creative, exploring new places, and sharing those experiences with others.
I’m most proud of being able to build a career that combines both sides of my personality. I never expected my career to look like this, but I love the balance and flexibility it gives me, and I’m really proud of what I’ve built for myself.
What sets me apart from others is I focus on creating genuine content that everyday people can relate to. I strive for people who are watching my videos to feel like they are hearing from a friend. I make it a point to give honest and kind reviews so my viewers see me as a trusted resource in the community.
What makes you happy?
I’m happiest when I’m exploring somewhere new, spending time in nature, traveling, being creative, or spending time with my husband, friends, and family. I love trying new things, appreciating the little things in life and finding the good in every situation.
