Meet Nadia Mohabir of New York City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadia Mohabir.

Nadia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my own pet care business by appreciating animals from a young age. I grew up rescuing dogs, feeding strays and taking care of animals in Guyana! And that experience really shaped my passion for creating a safe, loving space for animals especially when they’re away from their families.

As I got older, I built on that passion by learning more about animals by studying animal psychology, this allowed me to truly understand and connect with animals on a deeper level, reading their behavior and emotions and what they need to feel safe. After college I started off as a Vet Assistant where gained hands on experience, loved every minute of it and I also worked with the Humane Society as a fundraiser to help animals in need.

All of those experiences came together and inspired me to start my own independent pet care business and where I am today. I wanted to provide pet owners with peace of mind knowing their animals are not just being watched, but genuinely cared for and understood in a safe nurturing environment because I believe animals deserves the best treatment for their loyalty.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, because this is a business that constantly changes. Clients come and go, and you build real connections along the way. Getting attached to the dogs is the hardest and most beautiful part. Saying goodbye when families move or when circumstances change is never easy, but it’s also been incredible meaningful to watch so many of my clients grow and go through different stages of life.

One of the most difficult parts of this journey has ben experiencing the loss of a pet I was very close to, especially to something like sickness. Moments like that are heartbreaking, but they also remind me why I do this. To give every animal in my care the most love, comfort and care possible while they’re in my life.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an independent pet care provider. I own my own independent business of dog sitting and cat sitting, so I specialize in animal care. I am most proud of starting my own business at a young age and growing my clientele in NYC! Where dreams are possible. I also specialize in animal photography, I think that’s what sets me apart from others. An all in one package

What matters most to you?
God and family matters the most to me because it’s the foundation or everything I am and everything I do. Growing up, I learned that love, support and loyalty are what truly hold people together, especially during difficult times. My siblings and dogs has always been my safe space.
