Meet Nicole Williams of Buhter Up

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Williams.

Nicole, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Growing up I had really dry skin. I have always been in love with lotions and creams with fragrance but they never provided the moisture my skin needed. My mother always believed in the healing/moisturizing power of Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Mango Butter etc… I learned how to add fragrance to these awesome moisturizers while maintaining it’s Natural properties.

When I had children many years later they were born with Eczema and other skin sensitivities. By that time I knew what worked. I got constant compliments on my skin, my children’s skin and the way we smelled. That’s when it dawned on me that these products are too good to keep to myself, there are so many people suffering from the same skin issues that need help that’s when Buhter Up was born.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road. Consistency was an issue at one point. It is very easy to make skin care products for yourself and family but when you step outside of that and start making products for “customers” the product has to be consistent ie. smell, texture, consistency etc.. Also it can be exhausting being a business owner because it requires you to wear many hats and you must be focused at all times. I find being an Entrepreneur very rewarding at times, it takes passion. You must be passionate about what you do and your goals. You must believe in your brand.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Buhter Up story. Tell us more about the business.
Buhter Up offers skin and hair care products that are formulated with the finest quality ingredients that are enriched with the necessary vitamins to keep your skin and hair healthy, nourished and beautiful. I think outside of the box. I make sure at Buhter Up every need is met. We have products that cater to your head down to your toes and we are also working on a home fragrance and cleaning collection using the healing power of essential oils.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe in luck I believe in Blessings. God has blessed me with this business. I started working at 14 years old. Every job that I have had prepared me for running this business. I use the skills that I’ve learned at previous jobs daily. This business came about out of necessity and it is still running due to blessings.
