Meet Pete Gottschalk of PG Creative in Buckhead

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pete Gottschalk.

Pete, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My name is Pete Gottschalk, and I am a 22-year-old videographer from the Buckhead area in Atlanta. I work for Major League Baseball as a video content creator and also make YouTube videos revolving around my friends and I for fun. I recently graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Marketing. I grew up in Bloomington, Indiana, with a single mother, who taught me how to work hard and become a young man. My grandpa was a college basketball coach at the division one level, so he taught me a lot through his knowledge of teamwork and work ethic, while my grandma, a college math teacher, taught me the importance of academics.

As a young kid, I used to make lego stop-motion animations, but eventually, I lost interest in that. However, in high school, I made a (terrible) video of my friends and I golfing, and from that moment on, I fell in love with the process of editing, shooting, and just documenting things and moments in life. I turned to sports content in college as I got a job with IMG New Media and Georgia Athletics, here I learned how to tell stories in a creative way and shoot various sports with a multitude of cameras. This internship allowed me to grow both as a professional and as a videographer, taking my skills to levels I didn’t know were possible. Back in January of 2020, I got an Instagram message from my current boss, Lucas Stevenson, asking me about my post-grad plans and mentioning an opening at MLB. Ultimately, I was hired by Major League Baseball and now live out my childhood dreams of becoming a baseball player through the lens of my camera.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a relatively smooth road, moving from Indiana and Georgia in the middle of high school was a tough moment for myself, I sat by myself at lunch for the first week but ultimately, it taught me a lot and I wouldn’t change a thing.

PG Creative – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My company, more of a brand, PG Creative, does freelance opportunities for really anyone. Musicians, artists, brands, weddings, and of course myself. I want it to represent myself in the future as I continue to make YouTube videos. I am proud of where it has come in two years but I am always looking to grow it. It is set apart from others because it tells stories in unique and visually stimulating ways.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Honestly, my proudest career moment isn’t just one moment, but a couple of them, and that would be when 17-18-year-old kids reach out to me asking questions on how to get into my field, or that they look up to me and want to be where I am in a couple years. That, to me, is the most valuable thing offered in my field.
