Meet Phyllis Brumfield of Brumfield Insurance Agency, Inc. in Stockbridge

Today we’d like to introduce you to Phyllis Brumfield.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Phyllis. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve been in the insurance industry for over 30 years. I first opened The Brumfield Insurance Agency in 2014 as a captive agent. Now, I am an independent insurance broker. Being an independent insurance agent allows me to custom fit my clients’ insurance needs to them. My loyalty is to my clients and not to any insurance company.

My goal is to educate my clients. I explain every coverage to my clients so they have a thorough understanding of what they have purchased.

I love being an agent. I get to do so much for the local schools, veterans and my community at large.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Being a business owner comes with its challenges. Personnel and staffing have been the biggest challenge. It’s tough to find people who love insurance and helping people as much as I do.

Please tell us about Brumfield Insurance Agency, Inc.
The Brumfield Insurance Agency educates, provides and protects. We educate our clients about their insurance options and provide a broad portfolio of insurance products to protect families and their assets. We provide home, auto, life, and inland marine policies for individuals as well as business and commercial trucking policies for small to midsize companies.

I am proud of my company. I am known for my kind spirit and my excellent knowledge of insurance coverages. I make a personal call my clients at least twice a year, just to say hello because I care.

My office motto is: We service people, not policies. I am not trying to upsell my clients. I am truthful and if another carrier is a better fit, I always tell them. My clients have my personal cellular because life does not always happen Monday – Friday  between 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Funny question, I did start over when I went from a captive agent to an independent agent. I do many things differently. I hired a bookkeeper to consolidate my financials monthly so that I have a better understanding of the financials. I brand Phyllis Brumfield and not an insurance carrier. What many of my clients have told me is that they are my clients not because of a specific insurance carrier, but because of me, Phyllis Brumfield.
