Today we’d like to introduce you to Pierce Rogers
Hi Pierce, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Photography is a hobby I picked up from my mom around the age of 14. My parents blessed me with my first camera at 16, and I decided to take it seriously. At 18, I developed an autoimmune condition called ocular myasthenia gravis, which affects the muscles that move my eyes and eyelids, causing focusing issues. A very huge part of my journey as a photographer is that you have to see your vision before taking an image. Interestingly, as I have become more immersed in photography, my condition has improved.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My struggles in photography stem from not being a very active social media person, nor having a large following, which is challenging in today’s era. Recently, I’ve been focusing on event photography and weddings, and it seems like every event now leads to another one or two bookings.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My name is Pierce Rogers, and I’m a photographer known as Pierce B. Media. I specialize in sports, events, and portraits. I’m most proud of my continual growth as a photographer, understanding that nothing worth having career-wise comes easy as an entrepreneur. I love continuing to learn and capturing new moments for people. What sets me apart is my personality with the camera in my hand. Especially during events, I get some of the best expressions by simply being kind, giving compliments, and making people feel authentically good about themselves.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I would say I’m a calculated risk taker. A week after graduation, I took the significant risk of upgrading my camera equipment, transitioning from Canon to Sony, fully aware that camera gear isn’t cheap. I believed my work was good, but I knew I could elevate it with better equipment, especially now that I truly understood the intricacies of camera technology. A few months later, I took another calculated risk by investing in my own lighting to enhance my images further. I knew this could be a gamble that might not pay off, but I stepped out on faith, trusting in God that it would work out for me.
