Meet Prince Smith of North Carolina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Prince Smith.

Hi Prince, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Both of my parents were on drugs. My grandparents who were born in 1929 and 1938 (grandma still living) basically instilled most of the morals and values that I have today. My mom is so amazing and got her life together and provided very well for me and my siblings.

Because I wanted better for myself, I applied morals, value, and a plan to my life. And that’s what got me into Acting!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been as smooth as I would like. Having limited resources can sometimes disable a person to advance in what they want to do or where they want to be.

Some of the struggles have been my height! I never knew being 6’3 sometimes limits the roles that I audition for because they require someone of a shorter height. Also living in NC is great, they do film here, but the opportunities that I look for typically cast “local talent”; in which has limited me in getting roles that I really want!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an Actor, Writer, and Producer.
I specialize in dramatics/ DRAMA as an actor! I’m known for my role as Jeremiah in Coming Out Season 2! I am most proud of the amount of audition opportunities that have been presented to me; it reassures me that I am a great actor and I need to work even harder to be the best! And what sets me apart from others is my NATURAL aura that seems to draw people to me, my ability to bring the character to life, and my ability to understand the script and show off my diverse acting abilities!

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Advice I would give to those starting out would be: don’t just accept any role for camera time/ or to fill up your acting resume!

Work on projects that are within your morals, values, and plan! Projects that are meaningful to you!

Do NOT accept too many free projects, because you spend more money out of pocket for a project that may never even wrap/ or be completed. Not saying all free projects aren’t worth your time!

One thing I wish I knew starting out, is that a lot of the production companies require you to be vaccinated to be on set! And I also wish I knew it’s a little more complex to get bigger roles when you’re not local talent AND without representation! I also wish I knew that some production companies require you to be with one of the unions or SAG AFTRA.
