Meet Raven Brown of Frogs and Lilies Children’s Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raven Brown.

Raven, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
One day, I took a drive to Clarksdale, MS to visit my grandmother’s grave. My grandmother was a huge inspiration in my life, and I miss her so much. While driving back home to Memphis, TN, it started to rain. I thought about something my aunt had been saying which was, “Operate in your gifts and talents. You must leave a legacy and inheritance to your children and create multiple streams of income.” At that moment, tears fell from my eyes. I prayed and cried out to God and asked Him what was it I needed to do to secure wealth for my children and to leave them an inheritance. He replied and said so clear “Frogs and Lilies Children’s Boutique.” HE told me that this would not be an ordinary Boutique. My daughter, Genesis, is autistic. There is no way you can tell because she is super smart, wise beyond her years, very intelligent, and is my angel in disguise. The vision for this boutique is to raise awareness around autism and to bring autistic children and families together from all walks of life. I want to let other parents know that they are not alone and that together, we can make a difference and an impact by creating safe spaces for our children and to be there for each other. Today, I present to you and individuals all over the US Frogs and Lilies Children’s Boutique.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Being a full-time Entrepreneur is not for the birds. The road has not been smooth at all; however, I have made a conscious decision to Mind My Business. I workday and night burning the midnight oil to ensure orders are filled and mailed out timely. In the beginning, my first thought was friends and families will be my biggest supporters. I’ve discovered the hard way that that’s not the case. I’ve come to realize that as a business owner, you must sell the quality of your product/service and whomever is interested will purchase it. In the beginning, I struggled with supporters. Then, I struggled with low sales weeks. However, I did not quit or give up. I had to promote my business on different social media outlets, and I had to create content. I had to step up as a business owner and draw the crowd. Being an entrepreneur has shifted the trajectory in which I walk, talk, move, and shake on a daily basis. I wake up daily praying that I am encouraging or motivating someone to take that leap of faith and start that business.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
