Meet Rita Pardo of Pardo Naturals in Covington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rita Pardo.

Pardo Naturals is a line of natural products for the body, hair, and home. If you desire a lifestyle that is free of chemically-laden products, full of toxins and bad-for-you ingredients, then you’ve come to the right place! Every product we offer is made carefully by hand and sourced with the highest quality of raw materials and ingredients.
Naturally Me and You was born out of necessity and frustration, when our founder and CEO, Rita Pardo, could not find a product to relieve her oldest daughter’s severe case of eczema. After countless doctor visits that resulted in a collection of tubes of topical treatments that didn’t work, Rita decided to take matters into her own hands.
She started to research natural alternatives that could ease the pain of the dry, cracked, peeling and sometimes bleeding skin her daughter cried tears in pain over. She researched products ingredients and their side effects, and after a few more trips to the doctor, was relieved to learn her daughter had severe food allergies (among other medical issues) that caused her sensitivity to the dermatologist prescribed medications.

Rita quit her job to tend to her daughter’s medical needs. While in search of a natural remedy, she immersed herself in learning all she could about the proper use of aromatherapy and medicinal herbs. When she still couldn’t find what she was looking for on the market, she made it herself and created a unique blend of essential oils and shea butter that cleared eczema up! She started giving samples of her custom body butter away to friends and family, and the response was so overwhelmingly positive, starting Pardo Naturals was the result. That was in 2014 and since then, we’ve grown to include everything you need for a toxin-free lifestyle. From lotions to bath bombs to dishwasher tablets, there’s something for everyone (including pets!) in our store. Our founder specializes in issues related to sensitive skin and can customize your order, based upon a personalized assessment of your skin care needs or potential allergies to certain ingredients. It’s time to take your home back from harsh chemicals and reclaim your peace of mind.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not at all. I’ve had several personal and financial challenges. My oldest daughter (19) is disabled and in July of 2017, my husband got in an accident and ended up losing his leg. He’s now disabled. I also have two younger kids, 6 and 8. My youngest was recently diagnosed with autism. I’m the only caregiver so I do all the driving, grocery shopping, etc. Other struggles are financial… my business can’t sustain the household and the disability check isn’t enough to cover the expenses. I also had heart surgery in 2017 and while I was taking care of my husband, my mother succumbed to cancer and died in September of 2017.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Pardo Naturals – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I make natural products for the body, hair, and home. I also teach soap and bath bomb making classes. I recently started teaching bath bomb classes at the local Michael’s craft store. I specialize in and I’m known for educating consumers on “Why” it’s important to use natural products and how it benefits their family and the environment. I’m most proud of my recent rebranding and updated logo and I met one of my 2019 goals of being a vendor at the World Natural Hair Show this past April of 2018. My bubbly personality and transparency set me apart from other companies.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future will include hiring more employees and launching a full hair care line.
