Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharmorrow Gaines.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Sharmorrow. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The start of Omisoore began with a reading from a Priestess by the name of Her Grace. After being displaced by Hurricane Michael, I was advised via my spiritual counsel that I was not supposed to be working for anyone. Instead, my Ancestors wanted me to start my own business. I was also advised that my purpose for walking God’s green earth was to aid and assist with women and children, and what better way to do that than making all women of all sizes feel beautiful. Waist beads were worn by our African Ancestors from babies all the way to the elders. And from there, Omisoore was birthed.
Has it been a smooth road?
This road on entrepreneurship has actually been smoother than I thought. Almost like beading was already predestined for me.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Omisoore story. Tell us more about the business.
Omisoore is built around, making women of all ages and sizes feel beautiful as well as comfortable in their own skin. I specialize in handmade waist beads in which I like to call it ‘Waist Candy”. I also offer other products from oils, spiritual baths, hand made bracelets with healing stones, and much more. My company is a spiritually based company in which I like to like to see my clients smile but to also educate them on our history as a people. I think the thing I’m most proud of is showing little brown girls that there is more to us than big hips and all the other nonsense society has made us feel like is more important than being our little brown selves. What sets me apart from others is my spiritual journey with IFA in which my company is carried and guided by the Devine powers of Olodumare (God) and my Ancestors. All products are prayed over and blessed before and after being created.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Being that a lot of our people are having a spiritual awaking, I see Omisoore expanding to more than a home-based business. Also, I have a few other services that I’ll offer in the coming months that I rather not speak on just yet. Just know Omisoore will be making house calls soon.
