Meet Simone Reid of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Simone Reid.

Hi Simone, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I originally started my blog over 10 years ago, crazy to say! I had just finished grad school and was preparing to teach English overseas in Bangkok, Thailand. I created my page as a way to showcase my travels throughout Southeast Asia and to keep my friends updated during my year abroad. When I returned to Atlanta, I noticed a growing food blogging scene and decided to continue from there.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have definitely been obstacles and struggles along the way. Anytime you’re building something, you really have to hone in on your identity and your niche. Consistency is key, but it can be challenging to keep creating content, understand your audience, and figure out how to monetize while still producing quality work. I think a lot of people give up after a short period of time because of that.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What sets me apart from others in the Atlanta food scene is my unique perspective. I’ve lived in Atlanta my whole life, so I’m able to share local tips and hidden gems that others might miss. At the same time, I’ve traveled to over 30 countries and experienced food from around the world, which influences how I explore and highlight different cuisines.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
When it comes to the influencer industry, one of the best things you can do is put yourself out there. Reach out to creators whose content you genuinely like, and attend creator or brand events whenever you can. When you’re there, talk to people, make real connections, and stay in touch, those relationships really matter.
