Meet Thomas Wages of West Midtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Thomas Wages.

Thomas, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My passion for designing started at a young age. I grew up in a household where everyone was in the medical field, but I was drawn to architecture, photography, and art. My grandmother created couture, and while I cannot sew remotely as well, it is the quality, fit, and design that peaked my interest. I had the pleasure of working with Levi Strauss in Research and Development. Our team was responsible for the 514 and 511 fit (happily, the 511 fit remains one of their top sellers today). That experience coupled with my grandmother’s couture were the drivers behind me creating my own line.

Since opening my shop in Atlanta, I have created all the patterns and designs at my studio, and all THOMAS WAGES brand products are proudly handcrafted in America.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
With growing any business there are challenges, but by in large it has been an extremely satisfying experience. Because of the support of my wonderful customers, I feel as if I’m living the adage: “Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.” I feel fortunate every day to have the most extraordinary people coming through my doors – who through their unwavering support allow me to do what I love.

THOMAS WAGES – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are known for our exceptional fits and extraordinary quality. All THOMAS WAGES brand products are handcrafted in American. Our 3 fits by size, combined with our custom and made-to-measure work give our customers a uniquely personalized shopping experience. Our customers enjoy one-on-one personal attention throughout their experience, as well as, our rooftop patio for discussing custom orders and generally catching up – we honestly treat our customers like family and sincerely enjoy good conversation in addition to serving their clothing needs.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is delivering unparalleled quality in every product we create, and sharing genuinely authentic customer service to everyone who walks in our doors. When a customer tells us that our clothes are their favorites and the best fitting they’ve ever had… that makes my day. The fact that many of our customers stop in just to say hello, and bring friends by to meet us… it doesn’t get much better.

The best compliment we can receive is our customers sharing us with their friends and family. We always welcome new members of our ever-growing family! Most importantly, we never forget that it is because of our customers unwavering support that we get to do what we love!
