Today we’d like to introduce you to Tommy Stoner.
Tommy , can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As a kid in elementary, I was a snare drummer so I guess it all started there. Eventually ventured off into piano and guitar but I kept drumming. Eventually getting a gig at a church where I made enough money to buy a laptop and started making some beats. After learning to do that I sold beats on the side but then a lot of people began to tell me I wasn’t a full producer until I learned how to work protools because all of my beats were made on FL studio. So my cousin Kevin bought a home studio where I was able to practice and work on doing that too. Which I guess payed off crazy cause eventually the churches I was playing for closed and all I did from that point was engineer and that along with my beats I guess got me to where I’m at now. Which is pretty cool I guess but I know I have so much further to go. I enjoy being able to do what I love and provide and still take care of things but I’m still waiting on my real life change where I can not only change my life but the people around me and around the world.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Yeah, it’s been sort of a rough road I recall a lot of times where I had to miss meals even sacrifice some money to buy sounds. Dealing with people canceling sessions was a hassle for a while too. But I guess you just learn to appreciate being able to work and do what you love all at the same time.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a music producer/song writer. I’ve made some cool accomplishments as far as my production goes I have Produced: Strange Things for Young thug, Like It Or Not for Cyhi The Prynce, Ride for Bahja, Big Lawn for Phresher and FatBoy SSE and this list really does go on but entirely too much to add. I’m proud of it all even how much I am called to do other work my phone literally never stops ringing these days and I guess that leads to what separates me from everyone else. Just the fact that people know to call me cause I make sure I’m there to work every time or in other words “I take no days off” lol it’s rare that I get called for any paid session without taking it. But also everyone can do it just have to be willing and really want a change.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory would be going to toys r us with my dad for getting all A’s in elementary school. Before my mom and dad’s divorce my dad was always spoiling me with the newest games or whatever I wanted especially when I did good in school.
