Today we’d like to introduce you to Takeah Stinchcomb.
Takeah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My mom is actually the main reason I grew interested in hair. I have four sister’s and when I say she made sure the upkeep on our hair was met every day! She was not a hair stylist, yet, she serviced her sister’s and they loved when she would relax their hair. I loved how they left so happy.
At the age of 12, I started caring for my own hair… you know, because at this age we start smelling ourselves so I wanted to do it on my own lol! As life progressed and I grew into a teenager, I experimented on my sisters, friends and cousins hair. The feeling of making someone feel more confident and beautiful was the ultimate reason I went to school to become a Licensed Cosmetologist. Graduated Year of 2008.
After years of learning and growing in the industry, I wanted to look into another aspect of beauty… makeup. So I taught myself how to do makeup and offered these services to my clients… ONE STOP SHOP was the goal. I’ve run my business out of a few Salons renting a booth on the Southside of Atlanta for almost ten years… I’m also a mother of 3, and they have played a tremendous part in me grinding in this industry… I’ve been through so much… Life!
This year my goal was to get my own space to bring my beauties(clients) to service them in private… In my warming atmosphere, I’m happy to say I’m satisfied that I have checked a big goal off my list. July 2018💜 I officially opened my own space And this is just the beginning…
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I can say that no this has definitely been a rollercoaster… learning how to be the best professional you can be is work within itself… Everyone’s needs are different, and sometimes you get the ones that are super particular. Balancing motherhood and working long hours took a toll at some point in my career and I had to reevaluate a few things.
Learning how to brand myself correctly (logo) and advertise the brand has given me a run. I have had about six different logos for my business, and I finally stuck with the most recent two designs… One for My overall Business and one for Makeup. This was the most recent form of struggle… getting that IT BRAND.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck… It has played a part various times in my life and career. Whether it was landing a gig that was originally for someone else… or something being given out of nowhere to support me…
Also, I’ve lost on the negative end of luck several times. I’m not by far perfect. Still growing and learning and willing to overcome the bad any day. It’s all a part of growth. There’s always a lesson in it.
