Meet Trailblazer Chavon Tingle-Wright

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chavon Tingle-Wright.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Better known as “Ting” to a group of late 90s babies who are HISTORY MAKING women; that plan to take over the world with ground breaking, earth shattering entrepreneurial/ Purpose driven careers.

A woman who prefers actions with tangible results rather than promises and words. Regardless of the task Chavon ensures that excellent results are produced in everything that God has given her the ability to do.

Born and raised in the Thorough streets of BROOKLYN New York, it groomed this unruly, strong-willed and impulsive woman to be the Life Doula to young woman that she is still becoming. Even though she was raised in a two parent household clothed and wrapped in stability; it was the additional women in her home that groomed her for the positions in life she would one day hold.

She credits her mother and father Calvin & Ernie Tingle for providing a solid educational cushion, but pays Homage to her sister Cherrel, Sister In – Love Michelle, Sister -In Love Alison, Cousin Hyacith and babysitter Anel who groomed her to take the world by storm; all while shaping her mind, heart, body and soul.

These women were the pillars in my community whose shoulders I stood on. These were the women that corrected me in love, told me the unadulterated truth even when I did not want to hear it. All women need women in there lives who love them so deep that they are willing to risk the relationship by telling them THE TRUTH. Truth is real Love. Mental and Emotional Wellness is one of the major keys in living a healthy lifestyle, and this is what these women provided for me at a very early age.

I’m 2008, I became a mother to my beautiful daughter Hillary Misa Tingle- Wright. My husband assisted me in documenting some of my pregnancy, and a few days before I went into labor; I was getting anxed and restless, eager to bring my firstborn into the world. To take my mind of things; He grabbed the camcorder and said what do you want to tell your daughter before she’s born. I shared some things about the type of mother I wanted to be to her, but somehow I ended crying and saying that I wanted to one day be in a position of working with young girls. Be careful what you seek and speak Good or bad; because God has given all of us a unique voiceprints that when we say something it’s picked up in the atmosphere. Those words take flight and are eventually birthed and given legs to stand on and walk right into our lives.

Fast forward to 2013, my passion for serving women and becoming and entrepreneur started to brew and can be traced back to 2013 when I accepted a position as a Guidance Counselor / Child Growth & Development Teacher at St. Joseph All Girl High School. What’s so ironic is that this was my Alma Marter. God really has a sense of humor. He will allow our lives to double back only to make a full and complete circle. God automatically initiated me into an unexpected thread of a legacy that I could never have imagined being apart of. “Thats how our daddy works as my” Aunt Clara would say. His plans for us are always bigger than the plans we have for ourselves (Jeremiah 29:11).

I knew that when I decided to accept this new career path; that I was on the precipice of something mind blowing. God allowed me to lead, guide, instruct, direct, groom, and love hundreds of young women who are living out their career paths at this very moment. I’m in awe and I’m humbled that He called me, and chose to use me as a vessel.

I’m grateful to Sister Joan Gallagher my principal, my Assistant Principal John Touhey who I love and worked very closely with, and the Chairwoman of my department Mrs. Mary Christy for putting me in this position to conquer and execute a master plan that not even they saw coming into Fruition (Romans 8:28). The good and bad will always work together for the ultimate plan God has for our lives. I will always salute these three individuals for positioning me to be able to receive the blessings God had awaiting me to mentor these young women that now has become my family

Working at St. Jospeh High School really helped me to find and hone in on my passion for serving women. I know it was my passion because It wasn’t just the young women in the school that I wanted to serve, but it was women everywhere that I became madly obsessed with serving. I found my calling, and I also found my voice so much so that I was able to obtain my own radio show syndicated all over the world. It was a place we gathered every Sunday for young adults and their parents to discuss topics that were important to adolescence. It served as a place for parents to meet young adults exactly where there were; mentally, physically, and emotionally. A platform for me to equip encouraged and empower their self-worth and self-esteem.

I served these young women tirelessly. I put blood sweat and tears into making sure that the end of every academic and personal decision and circumstance the outcome  was always success. I partnered with their parents to establish a village of love, empathy and consistency. In March of 2015 before the school year ended I gave in my resignation; I felt that my chapter had come to an end and I was ready to do more in my community which birth my first of many serial entrepreneur endeavors “The Class Act Dynasty. I launched a program titled Mentors Need Mentors with one of my former students who is now one of business partners Erica Maubury. Together we collaborated on a program that would enhance the growth and development for college career readiness for high school students.

In the midst of this, my husband who happens to be a very successful businessman. Constantly was on my back about carving out my own piece of the pie in the booming E-commerce wave. He runs two very lucrative and successful online businesses and pretty much gave me the cheat code to obtaining my own.

With that said, In July of 2018 I birth yet another business endeavor centered around women. BandGirls is a Lifestyle Brand that supports women that are resourceful, self-starters, dreamers, risk-takers, doers, and free spirits. BandGIRLS is the ultimate luxury hub that is routing for women who create their own lanes or are breaking the glass ceiling in the cooperate world. One very important piece of the brand is mental health. We provide counseling sessions for women who are in need.

BandGIRLS don’t take no for an answer and strive to be the head and not the tail. Whether you’re the young spicy 5th avenue attorney clutching a 30 inch Hermes Togo Birkin or the around the way girl rocking colored hair. I welcome all women with open arms. This brand Bands WOMEN together through beauty. More like an upscale beauty supply store online.

I have fully embraced the term serial entrepreneur. The pros are that I love setting my own schedule and having to answer to absolutely no one, but many times the cons out way the pros. I wouldn’t be a genuine and authentic person if I didn’t give you the cons of being this serial entrepreneur. These particular cons are ones that I am still currently experiencing. For the past for years, I have not been living in the overflow. I make enough just to pay my bills and restock products.

I have invested every single dime into my dream; at times with little to no signs of hope, sacrificing buying things I once would buy in the blink of an eye for now things for my businesses. More days than not I’m thinking of throwing in the towel, constant meltdowns and break downs of feeling like I’m a failure and a loser; and wanting to know  from God when is my Big Ship going to come in?

How do I get through these daily challenges? God, my husband, my therapist JORGE ( what would I do without Jorge), my church home Emmanuel Baptist Church; and my friends that are business owners that know exactly what I’m going through. If it were not for these people, I would have packed it up four years ago.  If I did not have dreams and hopes of being an exceptional example for my daughter and Godchildren ( Madison , Gia , and Kaiden) I would quit and end this agony at times.

It’s been four years and I am still nowhere where I want to be, but I’m closer to where I need to be. I will tell any entrepreneur this “with no risk comes no reward”. Also don’t look at what anyone is doing. Thankfully I am able to make sales without being on social media so I got off. I shut it down completely. I only want to focus on what I’m doing and no one else.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Human Service, an Associate In Science in Fashion & Business Merchandising, a Masters In Social Work Majoring In Individuals & Families Specializing in Gerontology. Lastly, I pursed a Doctorate In Education majoring in Teachers Leadership K- 12 grade. I’m currently enrolled in the international doula institute to become a certified doula. The word doula originated from the Greek world “woman servant” as I began studying I saw the definition and freaked out because that’s exactly who I am.

I want to continue making a difference in my community which then has a ripple effect across the world. I know beyond the shadow of a doubt that what I will contribute will have immense purpose and value to others. We all should be striving to be of service in some shape or form. Being of service is a catalyst or a bridge to unlock the true you were meant to be in Gods Kingdom. One of my biggest goals has always been about sending the elevator back down for other young women. Passing the torch to a new generation who may need a helping hand.

Speaking of sending the elevator back down I would also love to acknowledge two of my entrepreneurial little sisters Florence Dupiton CEO “It’s Her Cheveux LLC” and Brittney Orum CEO of “BB The Brand” both are business owners who’s names the world will surely soon know and become very familiar with if you’re not already. Both these young women are only 22 years old running their own online E-commerce businesses. They both are leading with guts, glory, ambition, and determination to change their lives as well as their families.

In conclusion, some of my others passions/hobbies are Simple Home Renovations, Floral Arrangements, and event planning. I’m always finding ways to stimulate my mind through learning whether it’s taking Saturday classes at Home Depot learning how to do back splashes, tiling floors, installing bathroom sinks. Or taking free photography classes at my local library. I enjoy being productive. These hobbies of mine bring me POM ( Peace of Mind) we all need something that brings us peace. Fortunately, for us women we are living in a climate where Women are definitely on the front line. We are living in our truths and we have become more gutsy and courageous than ever. We no long take No for answer or see it as an opposition. We see NO as NEXT OPPORTUNITY. We are staying on the hunt to find exactly what God called us to be. Women are nation builders, so to look around and see so many women doing what they love is a blessing. My hopes is for all of us is to rise to higher heights and deeper depths.

We’d love to hear more about BandGIRLS.
I’m most proud of my daughter to see her become a better version of me and her dad is a blessing. Seeing her be so grounded at such a young age. Gives me reassurance that she will grow gracefully; mentally , spiritually and emotionally.
