Today we’d like to introduce you to AyooTravv.
AyooTravv, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was diagnosed with stomach cancer in March 2018. I couldn’t eat or drink anything big. I randomly stumbled across videos of people eating large amounts of food on YouTube and it gave me a sensation that I couldn’t get physically because I could barely eat. In a time of darkness, it brought joy and happiness to my life. I knew that I wanted to help out others the same way those videos helped me.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. My YouTube videos include food challenges and there was a point in my journey where I couldn’t film anymore because I was going through chemotherapy. My stomach could barely stand to smell food without me feeling nauseous. When making YouTube videos, consistency is key. If you stop posting, people will feel a disconnect and unsubscribe from your channel. YouTube also stops pushing your videos out to a wider audience if you aren’t getting many interactions on your page.
Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I like to call myself an all-around entertainer. I initially started out doing “mukbangs.” A mukbang is essentially a video of someone eating a large amount of food, but I’ve now incorporated hot topics. I discuss major social issues that we’re facing today which sets me apart from my peers. I’ve always stated that if I had a platform, I would use it for something so much bigger than me. I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve actually touched people with my story and was able to help them tell theirs.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I couldn’t have made it this far without the help of my best friend Donald and my sister Travina. They’ve both helped me walk on this journey and I’d be wrong to not thank them for the success that I’ve seen thus far. I’d also give major credit to my mother for teaching how to strive for greatness and to never give up. I also would like to thank YouTubers Blove and Prissy P for being the first ones I saw doing these types of videos which motivated me to start. Prissy P has given me advice business and personal wise that makes me continue going.
