Meet Tyler Thomas of Roosevelts Catering

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Thomas.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Tyler. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. I found a love and passion for cooking at a young age. My great grandfather Roosevelt Hicks and I had a very close relationship. He inspired me with his work ethic and his passion for family. I feel like his spirit lives through me and it was only right that I named my business after him.

I loved cooking so much that I decided to go to school for it. I attended Johnson and Wales in Charlotte, North Carolina where I graduated with a degree in culinary arts.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The biggest struggle was being a first-generation full-time chef/entrepreneur because I didn’t have anyone to help me along the way. Everything I learned was kind of on then fly or came from trial and error. I was able to find my own lane by being myself, showing love and giving the best possible experience to the client no matter if they were in an apartment home or a 2 million dollar home.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Roosevelts Catering – what should we know?

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My parents have been my biggest supporters thus far and my clients of course.
