Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyshawn ‘Creed’ Smith.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I initially got into film after investing into a camera for my brand and first business Creed Co, which is a faith-based street-wear line. The concept and importance of creating content never became conscious to me until we did our first shoot and I made a cheesy promo video for our collection at the time.
Although the video itself was terrible, it engaged people in ways that sparked something in me. I’ve always loved film and it wasn’t until I began to ask myself the “Why’s” in my life that I discovered what it is that I wished to do with my life.
Once I developed a little skill, I started off using my brand and influence from social events I’d thrown to connect with local artist around the city. After curating a show that featured them, I would pitch myself to them to extend my audience in hopes of getting people interested in shooting with me. Taking the route of developing and nurturing my relationships around the city have continued to opened many doors for me to this day.
Has it been a smooth road?
As an entrepreneur of any kind, hardships are everything to your growth and development as both a person and a business. It’s been far from a smooth road on my journey none the less but every difficulty I’ve faced have been met with the utmost highest level of faith and perseverance. I truly stand behind the words that if God’s for it who can stand against you. We grow through what we go through.
Over the last few years I’ve dealt with a lot of personal battles that were outside of my business and as many of us who are heavily driven by our goals, it’s important to be conscious about what’s going on within yourself. The black community has always been very oblivious to mental health issues where a lot of us don’t get the support and help in time to make the necessary changes to better our lives. Focusing on remaining present and being aware of my thoughts rather being in my thoughts have made world of difference on my journey.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Noisee Production – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I started my company officially in 2017 following my college graduation. I’m a film director and editor specializing in narrative-driven works. As a company, I’m most proud and excited to being apart of the solution and the black community within the industry that’s creating shifts and opportunities.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Atlanta is one of the most forward progressing cities in this nation. There’s so much opportunity here that I can’t understand the idea of having a lack of motivation with such a great and powerful ambiance. However as great as Atlanta is, it still has a long way to go to be as full and notable as LA and NYC.
