Today we’d like to introduce you to Xavier Triche.
Xavier, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
For as long as I can remember, my life has been surrounded by sports. From being born into a family where my uncle was the Vice President of Public Relations for the Atlanta Hawks; to learning that every immediate family member that I would later have a relationship with played high school to collegiate sports. My first memory was waking up before the sun was in the sky to watch highlights of the 197o Atlanta Falcons. This early love for highlight reels and sports-related films would prove very influential as I got older. I would join athletics at an early age and no stone went un-turned; from football, basketball, baseball, and even soccer. I wanted to immerse myself in the cultures of each sport. This would lead me to playing baseball and football into high school and eventually playing football in college. However, after suffering a couple of concussions I would quit as an athlete, This would lead me to having to find a new way to be apart of the sports culture without being the athlete. To accomplish this I would begin to create original sports content following high school basketball and collegiate sports. Firstly contributing to the YouTube channel “Take Flight Hoops” and also interned for Georgia State Athletics. These experiences would put a fire in me to create my own original content, to accomplish this I created the sports digital content department for an independent newspaper called “The Signal.” Where I am the sports videographer, editor, and host for the weekly sports wrap-up. As well as this I create original content with individual players: photography and videography.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It was not an easy road to figuring out my plan b. Being “the athlete” was always my dream and was ultimately the goal before the end of my college career. It took months for me to figure out what I would do next. It was actually my mother who would give me the idea to go into sports journalism and to ultimately go into creating original sports content. I remember the conversation like it was yesterday she said, “Xavier you enjoy sports and talking about sports…” “Go find a way to get paid to do that.”
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Triche Media story. Tell us more about it.
I create original sports content. Photography, videography, podcasting, if it involves sports I’ll do it. I have contributed to several sports YouTube channels that include “Take Flight Hoops”, “GSU Athletics”, and “The Signal.” As well as I am a co-host on a college football podcast, “CFB Winning Edge Podcast.” I have also created two sports podcasts, “The Mom’s Huddle and “The Roundtable of Knuckleheads.” With two more podcasts in the works. My goal is to take the “sports” aspects out of the content I make, rather I want a person who cannot stand sports to fall in love with the culture around it: the fan base, the traditions, the pageantry, the food. All the things that make sports special to me. What sets me apart from others is the personable content that I create, I want you to feel at home when you consume my work.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I think my luck has been right down the middle, on one hand, head injuries derailed my collegiate career. However, it opened the doors to this amazing part of sports that I have fallen in love with more than I ever did as a player.
