Meet Yewande Adetola of Wándé’s Kitchen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yewande Adetola.

Hi Yewande, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey with Wandé’s Kitchen started with my love for cooking and sharing the taste of authentic Nigerian food with others. As a Nigerian living in the United States, food has always been a way for me to stay connected to my culture and bring people together.

What started as a passion gradually grew into a small food business, serving customers who appreciate homemade Nigerian meals, snacks, and our signature shawarma. Building the business has been a learning experience, balancing entrepreneurship with work, school, and other responsibilities while remaining committed to delivering quality food and excellent customer service.

The journey has not always been easy, but my passion, consistency, and the support of my customers have kept me going. Every order, referral, and returning customer reminds me why I started.

Today, my vision for Wandé’s Kitchen goes beyond preparing and selling food. I hope to grow the business into a recognized Nigerian food brand and eventually open my own restaurant, sharing the richness of Nigerian cuisine with an even wider audience. I am proud of how far I have come, and I look forward to what the future holds.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. Balancing Wandé’s Kitchen with work, school, and other responsibilities while managing the costs and challenges of running a small business has not been easy. There have been difficult moments, but my passion for cooking and my dream of opening my own Nigerian restaurant keep me going. Every challenge has taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of staying committed to my vision.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Wandé’s Kitchen is a small food business specializing in authentic Nigerian cuisine, signature shawarma, small chops, and catering for private and corporate events. What sets us apart is our commitment to fresh ingredients, rich Nigerian flavors, and quality service. I’m most proud of turning my passion for cooking into a growing brand that brings people together through food. My ultimate vision is to open a Nigerian restaurant and share our culture with a wider audience, one plate at a time.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is building something meaningful through my passion, hard work, and faith. Wandé’s Kitchen is more than a business to me; it represents my dream of sharing Nigerian culture through food, creating opportunities, and inspiring others to pursue their dreams. I want to build a brand that makes people feel at home, brings cultures together, and leaves a lasting impact.
