Today we’d like to introduce you to Zahmere Price.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I came from a line of entrepreneurs; my dad shaped me into who I am today. I remember selling his speakers to a lady who worked with my mom and another time we had a yard sale and I negotiating with people selling TVs and other appliances.
I was young doing these things I knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur but I didn’t know what wanted to do exactly what I wanted to sale I just knew I wanted to sale. I went to a police academy in New Jersey where I’m originally from and sold out these army fatigue hats I had brought from a local auction my family, and I used to attend occasionally.
One day I wore them, and people were constantly asking me how can they get the hats and the next day I brought them and they sold out. This was how everything started this was the seed sow into me and from that point I just grew and expanded. Years later, I had to wear glasses, and I was always into fashion, so I wanted to look good in what I wore.
So the thought came to mind what if I could design my own frames have my own brand. I started to do lots and lots of research, designing, planning, getting myself organized and most importantly staying motivated. Its so easy to get discouraged but I always believe if you want it you have to go get it. Didn’t nobody have to tell me to do this or do that, I didn’t wait for anybody to give me opportunities I created them?
Has it been a smooth road?
I definitely wouldn’t say a smooth road there are always obstacles you face as a business owner. My faith has most definitely kept me going. There were times I wasn’t getting any sales, I put so much time and money into this and wasn’t getting anything back that discouraging but you kept pushing I didn’t let that stop me. I started to look further than where I was building a relationship with people, taking the risk, doing things differently.
Learning this is all just apart of my story and failure isn’t the opposite of success its part of success. Being in the fashion industry is always difficult, you really have to sell your products and give people a reason to support you because it isn’t a necessity, so you have to really sell it and be different I gave people a reason to support my company.
Getting a business off the ground is never easy or a breeze unless you already have a huge following; unfortunately, I didn’t so I literally had to work from the ground up build my own foundation. I couldn’t just post a product and sell out I had to really go get it. I’m still climbing!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Zahmere Eyewear story. Tell us more about the business.
I have my own eyewear brand, I’m a brand of frames. I design my frames they come with a case, cleaning cloth all with my name on them. I officially launched in May, I was 17 at the time I have my hand in everything I don’t just have my eyewear line I’m also working on a service I can provide to people who want to start their businesses or already have there businesses and want to grow it.
I plan on teaching people how to network, manage their money, how to dress the part and talk the smarts. We’ll have meetings and take trips places it’s going to be a great experience I can’t wait to launch and get it started. I plan on doing it sometime early 2019. I’m growing in so many areas it’s unbelievable it would be selfish of me to not want to help people grow their businesses and turn their Dreams to reality.
We are progressing daily I’m busier than I’ve ever been with photo shoots, radio interviews, events, & tv and so much more. It’s just a blessing to look where I started and where I’m at today, I would have never imagined being here. I’m talking with people with huge platforms; I have a good amount of celebrities I’m contracted with, that I personally know who support me.
I love meeting people I can connect and grow with, and that’s what I’m doing. I’m branching out doing this I never thought I would do my company is constantly growing and doing number that didn’t think I would do. This is only the beginning I can go on and on. I just look at far God has brought me.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see my company worldwide making some very big shifts, by this time I’ll have my luxury backpacks and duffle bags already out. I’ll have my own stores, and I’ll be doing fashion shows. I’ll have sunglasses on by this time. Helping others get their name out there. Owning restaurants, hotels, houses and employing people.
