Natasha Dillard of Dallas, Georgia on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Natasha Dillard and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Natasha, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
First off, thank you so much for asking such a lovely question. I’ve been concentrating on doing a lot of what brings me joy lately outside of work. For me, it’s definitely fitness and working out and just overall taking care of my health. Both mentally and physically. I also really love and enjoy nature walks throughout the week and meeting new people whenever I go out. I have some of the best conversations with people I’m meeting for the first time. I find I connect with a lot of them as well, and they’re from all walks of life.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, I’m Natasha Dillard. I am a Mother, Model, Owner of ND PhotoGraphy Studio, and Author. My brand is Tasha The Virgo and the name derives from me being a September Virgo. It’s beyond a brand; it’s actually a lifestyle and the brand itself has helped me secure bookings as a Model and other fun business endeavors and collaborations.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
This is tearing me up. Back before this big loud personality and loud laugh I have now, I was actually a very shy timid little girl. I had this very small voice and kept to myself. I would even cover up my smile when I smiled because I was very self-conscious of my gap, the gap in my teeth. I was made fun of for it. But my grandmother, my grandmother was a very strong woman! Her name was Sandra. She stood 6 feet tall, with a very big dynamite personality. Everyone knew her, respected her, and heard her voice first before you even saw her because she spoke so loud and boldly. She told me; and I’ll never forget it. But she told me I was special. Not to ever be ashamed of my gap, because it fit me and my personality. And she always gave me the love I wanted and needed. Not only is this gap my most celebrated feature, because of her I decided to not close up my gap with braces, and learned to celebrate it for myself!

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
It would be to continue to be a kind person, Natasha. You’re gonna wind up changing the world one day. People love you. And to never stop dreaming.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I admire both Nina Simone and Maya Angelou. Nina Simone for her strong and honest convictions about herself. Her love for Black People, being unapologetic with her ideals and philosophies. And her prowess. She was a very classy timeless woman. Always being true to her. I admire Maya Angelou for her wisdom, her courage, bravery, as well as softness. Her voice had such a power to it. You would want to hear it for hours on end. It was if you were speaking or listening to your own grandmother. Her elegance will always be remembered and she’s definitely a role-model of mine when it comes to writing and as an Author.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m reading or watching a really good movie or tv show with one of my favorite meals. Also going for a nature walk and trail is very soothing to me.
