Rising Stars: Meet Bethany Forrest of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bethany Forrest.

Hi Bethany, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Sure! I have always loved music, books, colors and flavors. In fact, my earliest memories are of being read to by my beautiful Mom & Dad, in the kitchen learning how to cook with my Grandmom, and holding hands & dancing with oldest sister, Terri, and and family during holiday gatherings…. Great times!

I suppose it’s no wonder why I work in events now! I simply love the energy! There is an art to hosting & events.

I’ve been in the hospitality industry all of my life. Behind the bar?…. About 26 years now. Had to work in a few capacities before I found my passion But once I did?…. I knew that I was on the right path.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Purposeful, yes. Few things in life are smooth! But, I have learned a lot — and, continue to. Behind the bar, you hone an array of skills. I’ve worked everywhere, from nightclubs to country clubs, taverns to casinos…. Being a bartender isn’t for everyone. I’d say maybe 30% of the population have the temperament.. Challenges present opportunities for expansion! And, for those, I am grateful.

Becoming an entrepreneur added a whole new set of skills and rules! It sharpened my research and problem solving skills.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a small business owner, bar consultant and craft bar professional who specializes in menu building, cocktail & mocktail concepts and themed events. My primary focus is everything fresh! …. I make shrubs, syrups & tinctures from scratch, and juice whenever possible. However large or small the event, Farmers markets are my second home!

I host private events for my own business, Tchin Tchin Atlanta, as well as do consulting work with Premier Events and Friday events at the High Museum of Art. Both understand me as an artist, and have given me so much opportunity to grow and expand…. I am beyond grateful!

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson that I’ve learned is that TIME is your greatest investment. Use it wisely — and, do your research!

Ask questions. Use Google. But, be fact based. Don’t go along to get along…. ask the hard questions. It’s worth it!
