Rising Stars: Meet Carl Wright of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carl Wright.

Hi Carl, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey to becoming the Co-Founder of C & K Event Essentials has been anything but traditional. Before entering the event industry, I was an author with a passion for storytelling, inspiring others, and sharing my experiences. Writing taught me the power of connection, resilience, and the importance of creating moments that leave a lasting impact.

As my entrepreneurial journey evolved, I discovered that many of the same principles I applied as an author — creativity, attention to detail, building relationships, and understanding people — translated naturally into the world of events. Alongside my business partner, Kristy Hall, I helped turn a vision into what is now C & K Event Essentials, a growing event rental and event support company serving Metro Atlanta.

Starting a business from the ground up came with plenty of challenges. There were moments where we had to learn on the fly, make sacrifices, invest in ourselves, and trust the process. We weren’t handed a blueprint for success, but we relied on our work ethic, our faith, our willingness to learn, and our commitment to delivering excellence.

What makes me most proud is seeing how far we’ve come — from taking on small opportunities and proving ourselves one event at a time to becoming a trusted partner for organizations like the Atlanta Falcons, Your 3rd Spot, and other respected companies and community organizations. Every event we execute represents another chapter in our story.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that your journey doesn’t have to look like everyone else’s. The skills and experiences you gain in one season of life can prepare you for opportunities you never imagined in the next. My path from author to entrepreneur is proof that reinvention is possible when you remain open, continue learning, and are willing to take a chance on yourself.

Today, I’m grateful to lead C & K Event Essentials alongside Kristy, but our story is still being written. We are continuing to grow, serve our community, and build a brand rooted in professionalism, relationships, and our promise that “Your Event Is Our Business.”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not. Like most entrepreneurial journeys, the road has been filled with challenges, lessons, and moments where we had to trust the process.

Transitioning from being an author into the event industry meant stepping into an entirely new world. There was a learning curve — understanding logistics, inventory management, event operations, client expectations, and all of the moving pieces that happen behind the scenes to create a successful event. There were no shortcuts. We had to educate ourselves, ask questions, make adjustments, and continue improving with every opportunity.

One of the biggest challenges of building C & K Event Essentials has been growing a business while establishing our reputation in a competitive industry. In the beginning, every client, every event, and every opportunity mattered because we were proving not only our capabilities but also our commitment to excellence. There were long days, early mornings, late nights, physical labor, and times when we had to wear every hat in the company — sales, marketing, operations, customer service, and event setup.

Another challenge has been balancing growth with patience. As entrepreneurs, you naturally want to see immediate success, but we learned that sustainable growth takes time. There were moments where we questioned whether we were moving fast enough, but looking back, every small win, every relationship built, and every challenge overcome was preparing us for bigger opportunities.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that setbacks are not the end of your story — they are often the chapters that shape you the most. The same resilience that helped me become an author helped me navigate entrepreneurship. Every challenge has strengthened my faith, sharpened my business skills, and reinforced the importance of consistency, relationships, and showing up with excellence.

Today, I can appreciate the difficult moments because they helped build the foundation of who we are as a company. C & K Event Essentials continues to grow because we have never been afraid to learn, adapt, and put in the work. Our journey proves that with faith, perseverance, and a commitment to your vision, you can turn an unexpected path into a meaningful purpose.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At C & K Event Essentials, we specialize in providing high-quality event rental solutions and full-service event support for a wide range of occasions — from intimate private gatherings to large-scale corporate activations, community events, and high-profile productions. Our services include everything from tables, chairs, tents, and staging to pipe and drape setups, stanchions, specialty pieces, and on-site event logistics.

What we are best known for is reliability, professionalism, and execution. In an industry where timing and precision are everything, our clients trust us because we show up prepared, we communicate clearly, and we deliver exactly what we promise. Whether it’s a corporate partner, a community organization, or a major entertainment activation, we approach every event with the same mindset: excellence is the standard.

We are most proud of the relationships we’ve built along the way and the reputation we’ve earned through consistency and hard work. Being trusted by organizations such as the Atlanta Falcons, Your 3rd Spot, and most recently providing staging for the Warrick Dunn Celebrity Golf Tournament Pairings Party, along with other respected brands and institutions, is not something we take lightly. Each opportunity represents not just a job, but a responsibility to execute at the highest level.

What sets C & K apart is that we are not just a rental company — we are a partner in the event experience. We understand that events are more than setups and logistics; they are moments that matter. Because of that, we operate with a service-first mindset, paying attention to the details that others may overlook and stepping in wherever needed to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Another key differentiator is our hands-on approach. We are deeply involved in every aspect of the process, from planning and preparation to execution and breakdown. Our clients know that when they work with us, they are getting a team that cares just as much about the outcome as they do.

At the core of everything we do is our promise: “Your Event Is Our Business.” It’s not just a slogan, it’s the standard we operate by every day.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
The biggest advice I would give to anyone just starting out is simple: start where you are, use what you have, and stay consistent even when it’s not glamorous.

One of the things I wish I fully understood early on is that success takes time, and not just time, but repetition. There is a season where you are building, learning, making mistakes, and proving yourself before the results fully show. A lot of people quit right before the breakthrough because they expect instant success. The truth is, consistency is what separates interest from commitment.

I also learned that relationships matter just as much as skill. Your reputation will often open doors before your résumé does. How you treat people, how you communicate, and how you handle pressure will carry you further than you realize in the beginning.

Another lesson is to embrace the “small beginnings.” Every event, no matter the size, deserves your best effort. The way you handle the small opportunities is exactly what prepares you for the larger ones. That mindset helped shape who we are today.

I also wish I knew earlier that you don’t have to have everything figured out to start. Many people wait for perfect timing, perfect equipment, or perfect conditions, but growth happens in motion, not in planning. You learn by doing, adjusting, and improving along the way.

Lastly, protect your vision. There will be moments of doubt, distractions, and challenges that test your commitment. But if you stay focused, remain patient, and keep showing up, things begin to align in ways you couldn’t have planned.

Looking back, every challenge we faced played a role in shaping C & K Event Essentials into what it is today. So my encouragement to anyone starting out is this: stay faithful to the process, stay consistent, and trust that your work will speak for itself in time.
