Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Morrison.
Hi Chris, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My passion for the craft all started on a little family farm in the North Carolina mountains, where I started cooking with my grandparents as soon as I could walk. All though I’m a Georgia native, the mountains are where my roots are. Here’s a little tidbit on my journey.
Chris Morrison is the creative mind behind the plate. His food is a fusion of New American, Southern and French Cuisine. With over 20 years of culinary experience, Chef Morrison has been recognized by the Atlanta Journal Constitution as one of the next rising chefs.
He has been nominated for the 2014 Great Awards, accomplishing high honors as a Le Cordon Bleu Alumni. As a proud member of Georgia Organics, Chef Morrison is an advocate of giving back to his community through volunteer farming, using local products and working with students of the culinary arts. He was the former Special Events Chef at Whole Foods Market and is now the Owner/Executive Chef at his catering company, Little Farmhouse Catering, and popular brunch spot, The Little Farmhouse Cafe.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In this field, no! Ha.
– Finding skilled staff
– Covid
– Growing pains of opening a new restaurant.
– Wellbeing
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Business owner / Executive Chef
I specialize in creating the moment! I’m known for my red wine bbq brisket but also southern fusion cuisine. I would say one of my proudest achievements was my restaurant concept The Little Farmhouse Cafe, voted as one of the best breakfast/lunch/brunch spots for the past 4-5 years in Atlanta, as well as one of the hardest working hands-on chefs known.
What sets me apart is the love for the craft. To create food/cuisines that are unforgettable and leave a mark on one’s soul. Humble.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
There’s one thing about any location… it’s what you make it! So, to answer your question, I love my hometown and what it provides for me. As long as there’s four seasons, good food, good earth to plant your feet, and good people, I can’t ever complain.
