Rising Stars: Meet Chucki Love of Gwinnett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chucki Love.

Hi Chucki, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Yeah, so I started in entertainment in pre-school (however old that is) when I did my first stage play. I performed stand-up for the first time at 16, hosting high school talent shows in the Atlanta area. I first picked up a guitar when I was about 13, started taking lessons but my fingers started hurting and I was over it. At 21, I downloaded Fruityloops to mom’s computer and started making beats. A few years later, I (very poorly) engineered, produced, and rapped my first mixtape. Music has always been a part of my creation process, I just kept it on the backend, behind my stand-up comedy and acting. Now, I’m currently working on my first stand-up comedy and music live performance + album.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course it hasn’t, but that’s the fun part right? I’ve reached an age where I can recognize some of the hardest moments in my life are in retrospect, some of the greatest times. Being homeless but on TV, being betrayed by love, betrayed by friends, hundreds of applications for dream jobs, auditions for roles I knew I’d be great in, connections with fellow artists that are undone from envy and resentment… Yeah I’ve been traveling a very “non-smooth” road, but it all makes the stories I share in my stand-up comedy and music what they are.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
So I can see how it may be confusing to many but first and foremost, I’m a stand-up comedian and actor. That’s what I’m primarily known for. However, there are many who know me for music, whether it was producing beats, or sing and rapping, just depends on when and where we met in life. What’s new is my becoming a guitarist.
I think I’m most proud of.. anytime I stepped off of stage and someone approached me and told me how much they enjoyed me. Or when anyone does it for anything they’ve seen me do, it’s very good source of confidence. What sets me apart is my point of view, experience/s, and talent level.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory? Oh, so many. I can’t give just one, but I definitely cherish the times with my whole family back in North Chicago. Many have passed, and many have moved on but I think at this age, I can look at it retrospect and realize that. I remember I set half my neighborhood on fire one time when I was maybe 11? I was a wild child my friend.
