Today we’d like to introduce you to Delphine Breyne.
Hi Delphine, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up in a small town in the north of France, with only about 10,000 people. Life there was comfortable and predictable—people followed the same paths and stayed within their comfort zones. But deep down, I always felt something bigger was waiting for me.
For 25 years, I built a career in fashion. I had what many would consider a dream life: a successful job, a beautiful home, financial stability, and I was surrounded by family and friends. I was also in a long-term relationship for 17 years. From the outside, everything looked perfect.
But inside, I knew I wasn’t done dreaming.
So I made a decision that changed everything.
I left it all behind—my career, my home, my relationship, my country, and the people I loved—and moved to the United States with just two suitcases and a belief that something greater was meant for me.
It was one of the scariest decisions of my life. Many people thought I was burning out or making a mistake. But I wasn’t lost—I had a vision.
Starting over wasn’t easy. I had to improve my English, adapt to a new culture, and learn entirely new skills. I committed to growing every day, earning 24 certifications and constantly investing in myself. I truly believe learning never stops—it’s the key to evolving and creating new opportunities.
Eventually, I built my own business—something that came from courage, resilience, and trusting my intuition.
Today, I’m living my version of the American dream in New York City, surrounded by over 8 million people—a place where anything feels possible.
I come from a family of eight, where there wasn’t always space to dream big. So I learned to tell myself: you are worthy, you are unique—just go for it.
If I can do it, so can you.
Trust your gut. Believe in something bigger. And don’t be afraid to start over
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
“Honestly, it wasn’t a smooth road at all. One of my biggest challenges was taking the risk of building something on my own, especially during COVID. At first, I played it safe and worked with other places to avoid the financial pressure of rent.
But I had a clear vision—I even kept a picture on my vision board for five years of the kind of space I wanted to create. During COVID, I spent about eight months searching for a place like that, and most people told me it wasn’t realistic or that I wouldn’t find it.
Eventually, I heard about a building with the kind of high ceilings I was looking for. I went to see it and immediately saw the potential—but the rent was double what I could comfortably afford. That was a turning point. I had to decide whether to keep playing it safe or take a real risk.
I chose to go for it. It was honestly scary—I remember signing the lease and feeling overwhelmed—but I committed fully. The next day, I started building the space, sourcing materials, and bringing my vision to life.
Within two months, I had created the environment I had imagined, and I launched the business. Through Instagram marketing and creating a unique experience—especially when people couldn’t travel during COVID—I was able to attract clients.
Within three months of opening, I was featured in Vogue, and Goop recognized me as one of the best artists in the U.S.
That experience taught me a lot about resilience, trusting my vision, and taking calculated risks—even when the odds don’t look ideal.”
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
“My work is deeply personal to me. I originally struggled with having very little eyebrow hair myself, which affected my confidence. When I moved to the U.S., I started studying different makeup techniques to create a more natural look, because I’ve always believed that ‘less is more.’
That’s when I discovered microblading. At first, I was actually afraid to have it done, so I decided to fully understand it by learning the craft myself. I’m very detail-oriented and a perfectionist, so one training was never enough for me. I invested in my education and trained with top artists around the world—across Europe, the U.S., and Ukraine—and today I hold over 24 certifications.
But over time, I realized that many techniques didn’t match my vision. I’m very drawn to a more natural, soft, and refined aesthetic—what I would describe as a French, ‘imperfectly perfect’ approach. So I developed my own signature technique that focuses on subtlety, balance, and enhancing what’s already there rather than overcorrecting.
Today, I’m known for that very light, intentional touch. I work closely with surgeons and dermatologists who refer patients to me, especially in cases of restoration. I specialize in helping clients who are dealing with conditions like Alopecia, as well as individuals going through recovery from trauma or treatments like Cancer.
What I’m most proud of is that my work goes beyond aesthetics. I help people regain their confidence and reconnect with themselves. For many clients, it’s not just about eyebrows—it’s emotional healing and self-love. That’s really where I’ve found my purpose.”
How do you think about happiness?
“What makes me truly happy is waking up every morning and going to my atelier, knowing that I’ll be able to bring a smile to someone’s face.
When you find your passion, you want to live it fully—and that’s how I feel about my work. Every day is different because every person has their own story, and I feel honored to be part of their journey, especially when it comes to healing and regaining confidence.
I’m especially proud that I’ve found something that has both purpose and impact. For me, happiness comes from those moments when a client looks at themselves differently—in a positive way—and leaves feeling stronger, more confident, and more like themselves.
Bringing that kind of transformation, even in a small way, is what truly makes me happy.”
