I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
While many people see the crowns, titles, and accomplishments, my journey has not been without challenges. Throughout my academic, professional, and pageant career, one of the greatest obstacles I faced was learning how to balance multiple responsibilities while striving for excellence in every area of my life. As a student pursuing both a bachelor’s degree and an MBA, while actively participating in leadership roles, community service initiatives, and competitive pageantry, there were moments when the demands felt overwhelming. Those experiences taught me the importance of discipline, time management, and perseverance.

Another significant challenge was learning how to navigate disappointment and rejection. Over the years, I have competed on local, national, and international stages, and while I am grateful for the success I have achieved, there were also moments when I came incredibly close to my goals but fell just short. Finishing as a runner-up taught me that setbacks do not define your future. Instead, they provide an opportunity to grow, improve, and develop the resilience necessary to continue pursuing your dreams. Those experiences shifted my perspective and helped me understand that success is not always measured by a title but by the lessons learned throughout the journey.

As my platform and visibility grew, I also faced the challenge of managing public expectations. Whether as a titleholder, community leader, mentor, or professional in the financial industry, people often see the finished product without recognizing the sacrifices, long nights, self-doubt, and hard work that happen behind the scenes. Learning to remain authentic while navigating the pressure to meet expectations taught me the value of self-confidence and staying grounded in my purpose.

My passion for financial literacy was also shaped by challenges I witnessed within my community. I recognized that many individuals lacked access to the financial education needed to make informed decisions and build long-term stability. Seeing these gaps inspired me to create “Make It Make Cents: Financial Literacy Made Easy,” a platform dedicated to empowering others through financial education. What began as an observation became a mission to help others gain the knowledge and confidence needed to create brighter financial futures.

Above all, one of the most meaningful lessons I have learned is the importance of trusting the process. There were seasons when progress seemed slow, opportunities did not unfold as planned, and I questioned whether my efforts would lead to the outcomes I envisioned. However, those moments strengthened my faith, resilience, and determination. They taught me that growth often happens in the waiting, and that every challenge serves a purpose in preparing us for what lies ahead.

Today, I view every obstacle as an opportunity for growth. The challenges I have faced have shaped me into a stronger leader, a more compassionate mentor, and a more determined advocate for service, education, and empowerment. They have reinforced my belief that success is not defined by the absence of adversity, but by the courage to continue moving forward despite it.

This version sounds reflective, accomplished, and inspiring while remaining professional and authentic to your journey.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am more than a titleholder or finance professional . I am a connector, educator, and advocate who transforms opportunities into impact. What sets me apart is my ability to take the lessons I’ve learned through leadership, pageantry, and professional success and use them to empower others to reach their full potential.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories was performing in the Urban Nutcracker with Ballethnic at a very young age of 5. Not only did I have a speaking role at the beginning of the ballet, but I also performed as a dancer during the second act. I remember being so excited to be part of such a beautiful production and feeling inspired by the talented dancers around me.

As I watched the older performers on stage, I looked up to them and often thought, “That’s going to be me when I grow up.” Being surrounded by such creativity, discipline, and artistry sparked my passion for performing and gave me the confidence to dream big. Looking back, that experience was more than just a performance it was a moment that helped shape my love for dance, the arts, and pursuing opportunities that challenge me to grow.
