Rising Stars: Meet Jet Black Roses of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jet Black Roses.

Hi Jet Black Roses, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We honestly started with a simple connection and a shared love for music. Me (Trey) and Andrew, grew up surrounded by Southern rock, country, and soul music, and eventually connected with guitarist/singer Tyler Cates. From the first jam session, the chemistry was instant, and we quickly started writing songs together that felt honest, raw, and true to who we are.

During the pandemic, we spent time sharpening our sound and working with producer Greg Archilla, whose past work includes artists like Collective Soul and Matchbox Twenty. Instead of chasing trends, we really wanted to focused on creating music that felt timeless, blending Southern rock energy with country storytelling and soulful harmonies.

As we started to build a loyal following through nonstop touring and high energy live shows, we earned opportunities to open for legendary acts like Styx, Sammy Hagar, and Collective Soul. Our debut singles, including “King of Fools,” helped introduce our audience to our signature sound and our authentic style.

Today, I’d say Jet Black Roses continues to grow as an independent band driven by brotherhood, hard work, and a passion for making music that connects with people on a real level.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t believe the industry of music is ever really a smooth ride, especially on the journey itself. That’s what really makes you or breaks you though. I say the industry or music, because it’s become less and less about the music lately and more about trends and industry “standards”. Now you have music executives standing in front of graduating college students telling them to get in line with AI or get left behind. I believe that’s really going to start an artistic renaissance and revolution. I like to say this, We’re flawed because we’re human, Ai is flawed because it’s not. Anyway, let’s get back on topic, lol. It’s not always a smooth road, but it’s the only road we know. So, long story short, it’s tough sometimes, but if you create and stay true to your art, it’s worth it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Jet Black Roses is built on real music made by real people. We write our songs together, record together, and create everything as a band. What we’re most proud of is that nothing about what we do is manufactured. It’s raw, honest, and human. No autotune, no fake instruments, no AI, just musicians in a room creating something real.

Our sound pulls from Southern rock, country, soul, and blues, but at the center of it all is storytelling and authenticity. We want people to feel something when they hear our music, whether it’s through the lyrics, the energy of the live show, or the emotion in the recordings.

What sets us apart is that we’ve stayed true to who we are in a time where so much music feels overly polished or artificial. We still believe in live takes, real harmonies, loud guitars, and songs that come from real experiences. At the end of the day, we’re just a group of brothers and friends making music we love and sharing it with people who connect with it.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
One of the most important lessons we’ve learned is that no matter how crazy life gets, you have to treat people with kindness and show gratitude. Music has given us opportunities to meet people from all walks of life, and we’ve learned that being genuine and appreciating others goes a long way.

We want to be a light in a world that can feel pretty dark sometimes. At the end of the day, the most rock n’ roll thing you can do isn’t destruction or ego, it’s love. Looking out for people, lifting others up, staying humble, and being thankful for every opportunity. That’s what really lasts.
