Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Samson-Re.
Hi Joseph, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Maryland as a child then moved to Virginia. I was playing hardcore music in a band called “INDYPENDANT”in Richmond Virginia. I move to London for some time then moved to Atlanta in 1999. In that time I had two successful black rock bands and have written 3 books and focused now on music and assisting people with self development and uplifting people with my podcast music and books
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Growing in up in Virginia was rough because of a racism toxic racist environment. Looking back there was a lot of unnecessary experiences I went through as a young man for just being black. From police, teachers and peers. Later on I didn’t realize how much it effected me.I learned I had bad anxiety and ptsd and had healing sessions with therapy and plant based medicine that helped me heal from of that trauma.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have written three books and have a podcast and have played in three relatively successful bands and I train in martial arts still till today. Shotokan karate, Brazilian Jujitsu, and Yoga. I am mainly proud of my progression of becoming a better human being.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
I really enjoyed everything about the 80’s. Watching hip hop be born as well as MTV. In Maryland it was a very diverse environment and we played outside a lot and had a lot of fun. Like I said, overall it was an amazing positive journey overall.
