Rising Stars: Meet Kelly Avalos of Atlanta, Georgia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Avalos.

Hi Kelly, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My baby girl had her first “Twinkle Little Star” birthday. A theme you couldn’t find in store, and my passion was able to shine thru! I made all her decor and made a custom fringe that took me 4 hrs to make, which today it takes me less than 20 minutes to make. I started selling my fringe backdrops and decor on my Etsy shop, which I established in 2014, with over 500 sales. This venture led me to my next adventure in balloon designs, which I started in 2020. I began practicing on my kids’ birthdays, and my passion for balloon decor has evolved into event designing.
In 2023, my husband and business partner, envisioned a revolutionary idea that would transform the client experience. We launched our Jellybean photobooth experience, elevating the concept to new heights. With a variety of booths now available, we empower every moment to be truly unforgettable!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wish it were as smooth as it looks. People often tell me I make it appear easy and fun, but the road has not been easy for me. When I started, I had no idea what I was doing. All I knew was that my little hobby was something I truly loved; it was my passion, and I wanted to bring joy and make every moment special for those who allowed me to be a part of their events.

We purchased a Silhouette and then a Cricut, along with our newest machines that we use daily to provide personalized design services. I learned how to inflate balloons properly and discovered that the materials and machines I use play a significant role in my professionalism. Today, I only use branded materials and high-quality balloons to elevate each design. To invest in our photo booths, I taught myself how to create unique design templates, making our booth experience different from the rest. When someone’s passion is evident, it enhances the entire design, whether it involves balloons or a photo booth experience, the excitement truly shines through.

Not everyone has that passion. While I can’t reveal all my secrets, I can assure you that our photo booth experience is unlike any other. It is completely personalized for each client, and I even include special perks. It’s an essential addition to any event!

It’s amazing to be able to call myself a balloon stylist. I feel incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to expand into event design alongside our photobooth services. My goal has always been to create a fun and unique experience for every client. With our custom-designed backdrops and photobooth branding, we personalize every detail to align with our clients’ themes, bringing their visions to life.

I take great pride in where I stand today. My passion and creativity drive me to make every moment special, ensuring that each experience is memorable. Being part of someone else’s milestones is a significant privilege. Balancing running a business and being a mom has always been my priority. I wanted to pursue something I love while still being actively involved in my kids’ busy schedules.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I wish I could say that I read more often, but I tend to come up with ideas quickly! Throughout college, I was encouraged to write a book, and maybe I will one day. I am a writer and have had some of my work published. As for apps, I have learned a lot from TikTok, ranging from how to tie a balloon correctly to creative photo booth ideas. I even share some of my exclusive content there. It’s a no-brainer to learn from others and share your own ideas; it’s a fun way to shine and inspire others.
