Rising Stars: Meet Lillie Hale of Kansas City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lillie Hale.

Hi Lillie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For the career I have now, I got started by streaming during the pandemic in 2020. I solely streamed out of boredom, but I realized I had a passion for entertaining others overall. I didn’t stream that consistently nor did I truly care about the content that I created, I just used it to pass time. Eventually I came across the game that would truly spark my passion for not only streaming, but for content creation itself, Dead by Daylight. While I was waiting for my visa to process so I could move from the US to the UK, I immediately fell in love with the game. Around this time I was also planning to invest in a PC for work reasons, so started focusing on getting good at something I had a new found passion for. During my early time in Dead by Daylight, I had successfully transitioned to the UK, built a high quality gaming PC, and began making headway into my journey as a streamer. However, around this time the initial Covid-19 outbreak occurred and barred me from working, traveling back to family for holidays, and I even lost one of my biggest supporters, my grandmother. After this series of unfortunate events, I decided to take up streaming consistently to overcome the peak of my anxiety and stress. And although I still didn’t really understand streaming all that well, I persisted. After a few months of navigating the Twitch platform, I expanded my talents into other areas such as: languages like Spanish and Japanese, art, music, 3D modeling, voice acting, coaching, and 3D work. I used these mediums personally to cope and find solace in, but also to grow an audience that I could relate to and bond with as well, effectively cultivating the brand that has proudly become “Lillipie101”.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I feel like content creation is a very lonely and dividing space. It’s especially harder on me not only as a woman, but I’m also a queer black woman. I’ve been met with plenty of micro aggressions, hate raids and campaigns, and overall a lack of support from peers in my space. However, I’m a very determined individual with a strong support group. I’d never back down.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Generally I’m known as a streamer, but my talents have expanded so far beyond just that. I touched on it already a bit, but I’m much more than just a streamer. I’m a cosplayer, artist, musician, linguist, voice actress, and so much more. I’m definitely most proud of my linguistic and voice acting skills, however. I’ve always found it fascinating to be able to communicate with the many people I’ve met online and in-person through my work by speaking more than one language. Even moreso, I’m able to voice act in those multiple languages which a lot of people, including myself, find extremely cool!

Ultimately, I think what sets me apart from others is that I pursue it all and refuse to be locked into just one thing. If I want to do it all, I’ll do it all.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I typically handpick all of my collaborations, but I’m very picky about who I share my platform with. I’ve been stung a number of times, but I also want to collaborate with people that generally share the same ideals and attitudes as me.
