Rising Stars: Meet Olivier Duperval of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivier Duperval.

Olivier, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Im originally from NY now reside in ATL. I’ve always had the gift of writing and storytelling but it wasn’t until I got to college that I began to explore it in a deeper level.

Rapping and storytelling has always been a passion of mine and while I had the gift my heart in using it was off. It wasn’t until I found God(or really He found me) that I understood why He gave me the talents and abilities that He did.

I’ve grown to understand that my life, gifts and talents are to be used to bring lead people into a deeper understanding of who Jesus is, how He loves them and what their true purpose is on earth.

Music is a ministry and a tool to connect with others and help them embrace their God given identity and purpose. I’m excited and honored to be on this journey!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No not at all. I’ve hoped in and out of doing music because of my own experiences, distractions, fears, etc. but God has never let me let it go.

I’m a multifaceted creative so I tend to do a lot of things all at once, so becoming disciplined has been a challenge for me.

Having a great community to hold me accountable and encourage me has been helpful.

The Scripture says the gifts and callings are without repentance. So no matter how far we’ve gone, we can still come back to our true calling and move forward in faith.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a multifaceted creative in the areas of music , fashion and film. I’m most passionate about music and storytelling that bleeds into my fashion brand and film projects.

I’m most proud of the film projects (music videos, teasers, etc) that I’ve done. Bringing a visual idea to life has been a fulfilling journey and I’m excited to keep doing more.

I think my ability to be vulnerable is what sets me apart from others, I found the best way to connect is to be transparent and allow others to see me, and see themselves and God in my stories.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Consistency faith and discipline are negotiable while being a creative. Faith is trusting in God and what He says even when we can’t fully see it in reality. Discipline and consistency is what gets us to the finish line or seeing it comes to pass.

Also our identity is not in our work but in who God created us to be as His children. What we do can and will change but who God is who He says we are doesn’t.
