Rising Stars: Meet Ryan & Janiah Farmer of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan & Janiah Farmer.

Hi Ryan & Janiah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
We met in high school and started dating in June 2009, just before our senior year. Since then, we’ve been inseparable. We got married in March 2015 and have three children together.

As our marriage progressed, we realized we needed to prioritize it more. We were caught up in the relentless cycle of work, school, and parenting, and we felt we needed to reconnect with each other. We began to look at things differently and wanted to be more present and supportive for one another.

We would have long, meaningful conversations about our marriage and our hopes for the future. These conversations led us to the idea of starting a podcast. Thus, “For Better For Worse For Real” was born and launched in January 2026.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not haha. We are brand new to the podcasting world and have done a lot of trial and error as we gain our footing and develop our online presence. So we’re still learning what it takes to be podcasters. That means creating the physical space and having the right sound and visuals. We both edit videos and handle the social media accounts. We work collectively as a team, which makes it run smoother.

Making the decision to open up your marriage to the public and face possible scrutiny is never an easy one, but the response has been mostly positive. Honestly, it was something Janiah was nervous about at first. We get some wild comments sometimes but the good far outweigh the bad. We have really valuable content we want to share and we’re grateful to have the support from our followers!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
For Better For Worse For Real is a podcast we started because we think it’s important for people to see more examples of healthy marriages. We’re not perfect, but we are genuinely happily in love. Our goal is to continue prioritizing our marriage to grow closer together everyday and, through our podcast, we want to be able to give our followers a glimpse of our progression in real time. Hopefully we can motivate other couples to stay focused on truly being or becoming their partner’s better half, loving them completely and giving them the best version of themselves.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
For us, our networking comes from us collaborating with guest couples for Season 2. The best advice we can give is don’t be afraid to slide into someone’s DMs and just ask. The worst that could happen is they say no, but you’ll never know until you reach out. The greatest benefit to networking is being able to reach wider audiences to help grow your brand.
