Story & Lesson Highlights with Lord Vizion of Jackson, GA

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Lord Vizion. Check out our conversation below.

Lord, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
That’s easy, creating music. I can have a 12 hour studio session and would still be looking for more things to create and to build on. That’s my safe place and somewhere I can go to either vent, allow my ego to safely run rapid, or build a world surrounded by the things I create.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Lord Vizion. I am a full time rapper, poet, & author. I’ve been doing music professionally since 2016 and I have a brand called Good People Still Exist that promotes positivity, authenticity, & being a light in a world that can feel dark at times. My music is built off of relatability, honesty, and faith. I recently released my album “Breath Of Fresh Air” which talks about my journey in growing as a man of God, trying to be a better son, & bettering myself as a person. My goal is to remind people that being yourself is the most important thing you can do. Living in your truth and growing through your pain will inspire those that probably don’t have the same courage as you. It’s important and needed. When people listen to my music, I pray and hope they leave with a sense of purpose and courage to chase their own dreams, break generational curses, and motivation to be a better person than they were yesterday. My story isn’t anything special or anything you haven’t heard before, I just didn’t give up. I lived across the street from my father at one point and didn’t have a relationship with him but I didn’t use that as an excuse for what I couldn’t do. It never defined me, just motivated me to be someone better.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I won’t say their name because I respect their privacy but they planted the seed that everyone sees today. Back then I wasn’t as confident or courageous about chasing my dreams, I was just going with the flow, carrying a lot of anger & just being nonchalant about everything. But they planted a seed after I showed them my first rap and encouraged me to show the world what I’m capable of, or at least try. That’s a moment in time I’ll always carry with me. No matter how many accolades I receive, how many fans I gain, or how far I go in life, I’ll always be humbled and grateful for how my journey started and for the person who poured into me when I didn’t believe in myself yet. Cause I don’t know where I’d be honestly.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering creates a beautiful testimony. It builds character, teaches you about gratitude, and brings you closer to God. Even though this year has been filled with blessings and new opportunities, it’s also been the most trying time for me and my faith. That’s why even through the success, I try to be open and honest about what I’m going through. Because social media tends to be a highlight reel for most people. I don’t want that for me or my brand. Suffering taught me to use my pain as art and watch it turn into purpose. Being courageous enough to tell my supporters that I’m struggling financially and slipping in my faith is something you can’t pretend. That type of honesty, while you’re still in your suffering isn’t easy at all and it’s uncomfortable KNOWING you’ll get judged for it. But it’s necessary cause it separates the real from the fake.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
God. I’m just a vessel. & I’m not just saying that just to be saying it. That’s all I am, a vessel. I don’t get it right every time and my ego takes over sometimes and that’s cool. But I do believe God flows through me, it’s just on me if I’m obedient.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
The story that I want people to tell about me when I’m gone is that I tried when 98% of the world wasn’t trying. I was positive when 98% of the world was negative. Honesty was my best policy & I always put God first. I want people to know that music saved my life and the people I met on my journey in music helped remind me that Good People Still Exist. I pray that they use my life as an example of what God can do and how he can make all of your wildest dreams come true. I want them to remember me telling them to slow down, breathe, & appreciate the little things in life like the yellow birds or the sounds of the ocean. Hopefully the story that they tell lives on through the music.
