Story & Lesson Highlights with William Blount of Atlanta Area

We recently had the chance to connect with William Blount and have shared our conversation below.

William, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Since childhood, I’ve always been fascinated by maps—whether it’s Google Maps or a traditional atlas. I find joy in understanding the world around me, which constantly inspires me to learn and discover new places.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is William, but most people call me Bill. I have a deep passion for both art and maps, a combination that might seem unusual but has become a significant part of my work.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child I believed that there was only one path I could take in life. This is of course how society programs us to think. I now believe that anyone can do whatever they please as long as they live. You can be a teacher, an author, and dancer all at the same time or at different points in your life.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
For a long time, the fear of commitment held me back from fully pursuing my creative projects. However, I’ve come to realize that once you start something and integrate it into your daily routine, it becomes a natural and rewarding part of life.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’ve been secretly working on a graphic novel, which has been a lifelong dream of mine. This project became a daily commitment after I received acknowledgement from a publisher. Beyond my work in drone media and city-focused content, writing graphic novels is a goal I am dedicated to, no matter how long it takes.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If immortality were real, what would you build?
If I had imortality resources, I would focus on investing in and redeveloping underserved cities, starting with Georgia. I believe in working with residents to meet their specific needs, countering the current trend of development that often overlooks community well-being. I’m eager to connect with like-minded individuals who share this vision.
