Tanya Wideman’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Tanya Wideman. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Tanya, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
One of the things I’m most proud of building that nobody sees is my health. I had a life-changing conversation with a dietician that completely shifted the way I view food, movement, and self-care. Since then, I’ve committed to changing my diet and exercising daily. It’s not flashy or something I care to post about, but it’s the foundation that keeps me strong, balanced, and able to pour into my clients and family with energy and focus.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Tanya Wideman, a branding photographer based in Atlanta. I specialize in helping entrepreneurs and professionals show up with confidence and authenticity through intentional imagery. My brand is about more than photos…it’s about telling your story visually in a way that attracts the right clients and opportunities. What makes my work unique is the experience I create for each person. I guide them through the entire process…from wardrobe and styling, to posing and strategy, so that their images truly reflect who they are and where they’re going. Right now, I’m excited to be expanding my work by leading a photography team for one of Georgia’s largest events companies, shooting hundreds of events a year, while continuing to build my brand photography business.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that has most shaped how I see myself is my relationship with God. My faith grounds me, gives me direction, and reminds me that my worth isn’t tied to what I produce, how I look, or what I achieve. It’s in knowing who I am in Him that I’ve found the confidence to pursue my calling, serve others, and live with purpose.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell my younger self, you don’t have to be so hard on yourself. Progress matters more than perfection. You’re doing better than you think.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies in the photography industry is that everything has to be flawless. The perfect angle, the perfect lighting, the perfect body type. But real connection doesn’t come from perfection. It comes from authenticity. People don’t resonate with airbrushed lives; they resonate with real stories.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
If I laid down my name, my role, and everything I own, what would remain is my character. The way I treat people, the way I make them feel, and the love I pour into my family and community…that’s what lasts. Titles and possessions fade, but how you impact people stays with them forever.
