Tara Love of Atlanta on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Tara Love and have shared our conversation below.

Tara, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
Many of my supporters may not know that I was once timid about stepping out as a soloist. Singing has always been a passion of mine, but in the beginning, I found comfort in being a background vocalist. I was hesitant to step into the spotlight. My time in a gospel group during high school helped shift that fear—because we rotated lead parts for school talent shows and church revivals, I gradually built the confidence to embrace center stage and share my voice more fully. I am truly thankful that I took those steps, because they shaped the artist I am today.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Tara Love—a songstress, songwriter, and creative whose work is rooted in storytelling, soul, and authenticity. My debut self-published album, The Mirror, released in September 2023, reflects my perspectives and passions, with lyrics drawn from real inspiration to create music that feels relatable and meaningful. Beyond music, I am also the founder and CEO of Victor Publications LLC, a publishing and production company that is expanding into PR and communications. Through Victor Publications, my mission is to publish, produce, and promote works that inspire, inform, and empower. I have a new show on YouTube titled, “Too Transparent Too Transformative.” My journey is unique due to the ways I blend together artistry and entrepreneurship. I am building not just a career, but a platform that uplifts voices and brings people closer through creativity.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful comes from my academic achievements and the recognition I earned throughout my education. I was an honor roll student throughout primary and secondary school, and I graduated from high school with honors, in addition to earning 29 college credits. Now, I have earned multiple higher education degrees, including a master’s. Even at a young age, I realized that my intelligence and dedication gave me the ability to shape my own path and influence those around me. As a Black individual, more specifically a Black woman, I learned early the importance of resilience by accepting the strength to persevere and thrive despite societal barriers. I have always valued redistributing knowledge, sharing information creates opportunities for growth. There is a deep sense of empowerment within my essence, and this will inspire others, and reinforce the power of identity and integrity. A powerful mind and voice are concepts that continues to guide me in different aspects of my life.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self to trust her voice and her intuition, because a mind of determination and intelligence can guide her pathways. I would also give her a blueprint of information that could benefit her future, especially regarding financial endeavors. I would remind her that confidence in her own judgment, paired with knowledge and preparation, this is one of the most powerful tools she can carry through life.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, the public version of me is authentic. I have no filter, and I present myself honestly. Many Aries women share this same quality—though not everyone identifies with astrology, I recognize that the characteristics commonly associated with my sign reflect aspects of who I am. This authenticity is also why I chose to remain independent as an artist, so I can maintain complete creative control and ensure that everything I share is a true reflection of myself.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
All I can do is live for my own satisfaction and peace. I believe that inner joy is the most important measure of success, so I give my best regardless of whether anyone recognizes it. The fulfillment comes from knowing I have stayed true to myself and my standards. Praise from others is an added benefit, but my own perception of my efforts holds the greatest value.
