Community Highlights: Meet Keisa Talley of Lyfestylz Plus

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keisa Talley.

Keisa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I first started my business in the initial days of eBay. It all started with wanting to go enjoy the Atlanta nightlife scene and wearing something trendy, sexy and figure flattering for my body type. I stayed up countless nights searching Google and Yahoo for wholesale clothing vendors. I lucked up and was able to find a local vendor right on Buford HWY. Once I received my Georgia resale license, I headed that way to pick out my first 12 pieces. They were two halter tops sizes 1X-3X with two quantities for each size. I’ve always been about vibrant prints and colors so one top was a multi-colored lime green, dark green and white piece and the other was a classic black top with a little bedazzled pendant at the center. I was ready to party and sell!

Once I posted those pieces on eBay, I received my very first order and shipped it off to a small town in Wisconsin. I’ve been meaning to log into my old eBay account to see exactly where, lol. That began the journey to a “Lyfe of Style” via my Lyfestylz Plus brand.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road and it actually still have some bumps but I expect that to be a lifelong thing as an entrepreneur. Time always seems to be the most prevalent struggle especially as a solo-prenuer. One other thing to note is the constant and rapid revolution in technology. Case in point, social media alone is such a strong ally when it comes to marketing and promotion for businesses but with that also come the learning curve and pressure to reach potential customers on yet another platform. The flip side to that is technology is so awesome!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Lyfestylz Plus is THE “lyfestyle” brand for Curvy women. Founded in June of 2012, we have continuously grown and expanded our brand. In the early beginnings, Lyfestylz Plus primarily had a local group of supporters from participating in local pop-up shops and even hosting pop-ups of our own. Through the years and by the grace of the oh so powerful internets, we have been able to reach and serve customers both with the states and abroad.

Lyfestylz Plus was founded with the simple principle that Plus Size women should be able to shop the trendy looks without sacrificing quality and STYLE. As a fellow curvy woman, this brand has been not only instrumental in knowing what our customers deserve but it also serves as a personal reminder. Fashion is so much bigger than just what looks good but it also plays a role in how we feel. We all know that if you look good, you feel good; and when you feel good you can present your BEST self in any situation.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
If I were not in the fashion industry, I would for sure be in the music industry. I LOVE LOVE LOVE fashion and styling but music has a very close second place in my heart.
