Today we’d like to introduce you to Jadonna Williams.
Jadonna, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
From a young age, there were two gifts that were very evident in my life, the gift of administration and encouragement. I’ve always been extremely organized, structured and have a process for everything. So, there’s no surprise that I selected a career in human resources where I had responsibility for the administration of an organization.
For the past 12 years, I’ve been in the Human Resources profession and spent most of my career in the corporate world working for various Fortune 500 companies. As an HR Manager, I would often coach other managers and assist with creating and executing their career development plans. As a result, I developed an interest in coaching and consulting in the area of business.
So, about a year ago, I took a leap of faith and started my own company where I provide strategies and solutions to small businesses to help them optimize their HR administrative structure. I also encourage aspiring entrepreneurs to overcome mental and physical barriers to launch successful startups.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Don’t let social media fool you! This journey has not been one without challenges and there have definitely been some growing pains and lessons learned along the way. If I can be honest, I think challenges and obstacles are inevitable and all apart of the entrepreneurial journey.
One of my initial challenges was creating the best solution that was most effective for my clients. In the beginning, I changed and tweaked my processes multiple times. As I better understood my client base, I found it necessary to tailor my programs accordingly. I had to learn to become flexible and evolve with my business. I also learned to value my time. I realized very quickly that I had to set boundaries around this most valuable asset. The old cliché holds true as a business owner that time is money!
I would encourage anyone that is starting a business to: 1) Understand that it’s a process. It’s not a get rich quick scheme. You’re actually building and birthing a business so it’s going to take time. 2) Don’t wait until you have it all figured out to start. Chances are, you’ll be waiting for the rest of your life. Hire a business coach, implement a strategy and start taking steps forward. Waiting until the perfect time is just another barrier to keep you complacent and stuck.
Despite any obstacles and/or challenges I’ve faced, I absolutely love and enjoy what I do!
Please tell us about your work.
As an Execution Strategist, I help organizations identify root causes of HR issues in an effort to improve their performance by finding new, more streamlined/compliant ways of doing things. I review a company’s existing HR administrative processes and business systems to see where they can be more efficient, and then partner with my clients to implement workable solutions.
I also provide strategy to aspiring entrepreneurs to help them take their vision from a mere idea to full execution. I hold my clients accountable and provide them with the resources and support needed to launch their startups. My “Intense Clarity” coaching program helps clients pinpoint challenges and opportunities to help them get unstuck and allow their vision to become a reality.
Where clients see challenges, I’m determined to find solutions. I pride myself on being able to help my clients identify practical solutions and develop a plan of action to accomplish set targets and goals.
It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
I absolutely love to listen to business podcasts! Some of my favorites are The Brutal Truth About Sales and Selling, Kingdom Driven Entrepreneur, Blessed and Bossed Up and Christy Wright’s Business Boutique.
I believe it’s important to keep costs low and steward your resources carefully as an entrepreneur. Therefore, I utilize Canva (free version) for the majority of my design needs. I think it’s ideal for new business owners that want a professional look and desire to keep costs low at the same time. I also like the Buffer app to schedule social media posts and Quickbooks for accounting purposes.
To stay inspired and encouraged, I follow other successful women in entrepreneurship like Tiphani Montgomery, Nicole Walters, and Marshawn Daniels.
