Today we’d like to introduce you to DeAnna Butler.
DeAnna, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m the owner of Simply Produce LLC. But before we go into my vision for this business. Let me give you a little of why I started it. In 1997, I was faced with a lot of bills and no job. And, I was convinced that the economy would soon take a dive/recession. So, I was given two options at what I could possibly do to earn income. One was doing hair cause even in the worst of times people still want to look nice. And the other was food. I didn’t have enough capital to open up a salon. So, I opened up a fruit and veggie stand in SouthWest Atlanta. On the corner of Lee St. & Donnelly Ave. Yeah, y’all, that was me. Did really well and ran that stand until March of 2005 when we decided to open up a restaurant in East Point, Ga. Not my passion, of course. But did get to appear Live on FOX5 Atlanta in April of 2007. Ended up shutting that down in 2009. Took a few odd jobs. But decided to venture out on faith again, so in 2016, that’s just what I did. So, here I am. There’s more to my story but this is what I’ve shared. Thanks, A.C.Price!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, not by far was my road smooth. I mentioned the restaurant and appearing on FOX5 Atlanta but I didn’t mention that I had to file bankruptcy behind it. I was not in a good place. Being a mother of five is a struggle and a blessing within itself. So ladies feel me. And without people/family believing in you and investing in you because of that belief makes all the difference in the world. I had nothing but a vision and a dream. That I was able to make others see. To anyone with a vision and a dream. Go for it. You can’t fail if you never try. I’m living day to day. I leaped out on Faith and it leads me here. Just don’t accumulate too much debt and never live above your means!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Simply Produce LLC – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I sell fresh fruits and vegetables in a neighborhood that I’ve lived in for thirteen years. We’re in an area that doesn’t have much to offer. So, I decided that I’d offer a healthier way of eating. People have become more health conscience. And want to incorporate healthier choices in their diet. That’s where I come in. I hand pick all of my items. I travel to Cordele, Georgia to ensure they get the best-seeded watermelons, peaches, squash, etc. My proudest moment to me was the day I opened my business. I think I cried every time I turned the lock. We needed this in our area. And we cater to your production needs and even go out of our way to get special order items for you. We offer a range of fresh local produce, fruit bowls, trays and our Fresh Made to Order Juices always set us apart from others. After all, we’re Simply Produce LLC. And having a good support team makes a big difference. Thanks, Mom, Pop, N’namdi Toombs, Robert Butler, and Mr. Dennis Pete. Without you, all none of this would have been possible!
Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
I like to use all social media apps. And I’m always looking up local farms/farmers in my area. As always, trying to improve on my products. Try and get the best prices so I can offer the best price. There’s a lot of info out there for those willing to read. I’m always reading things so I can be more informed. My customers have the most interesting questions.
